What an amazing building. It is beyond belief that something like this could be built so long ago. We went to Mass there and there was a first communion. It was truly special. One of the many reasons to visit Orvieto

We were encouraged by hotel staff to visit this end of town for it's vista and this medieval church, one the oldest in Umbria. The frescoes and entire church are a walk through history. A must see and as another review said a stark contrast to the Duomo.

not much to look at from the outside, but a very nice inside. Plenty of stain glass windows to enj5oy particularly if it is a sunny day.

We stayed at La Badia Hotel next to the old abbey . The abbey is on a hill about 4K from Orvieto , there is the church of the crucifix to visit and the ancient refectory with 12th - 14th century frescoes. There are also the ruins of the Chapter House .

A nice !3th century Gothic church, San Domenico, can be considered as one of the first churches dedicated to the saint.

It sits on a small piazza, really just a wide space, off Corso Covour. Originally built on a pagan temple to Diana, it belonged to Benedictine monks from the 6th century.

In the Middle Ages it was one of the largest parishes, having annexed the hospital, the bell tower and the baptismal font. It holds the remains of two saints, Severo and Martirio.

It was rebuilt in 1838 and is one of the seven oldest basilicas in the city.
