- Ross DLeicester42 contributionsGreat little museum. Very interesting. Took us about 2 hours to look around but that was listening to every exhibit. An audio guide (English) was included in our price (8 Euro each). Not a busy place with a relaxed environment. It does have toilets. We parked on the street outside but it was a Saturday so not as busy as a week day. There is a public underground car park on that same street - it's underground so look for that down ramp. It has funny opening times so check before you go.Written July 22, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - elDenteTel Aviv78 contributionsThis is a great place to spend a couple of hours with children (perhaps 6 and up) The installations were very good. Many require explanations by the adults/staff who is very kids friendly.
All the instructions are in French and some staff speaks in English.Written October 18, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The galleries are interesting and host a good collection. We were there for Boris Charmatz takeover - 20 dancers for the 20 century; and it was a great venue to host a musee de la danse. They occupied the gallery inside and out, and the presence of movement in a normally static arts space is compelling.
Lunch in the restaurant was excellent, and the gardens are lovely if you need a breath of fresh air!Written April 11, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The Google instructions were worse than useless; here's what to do (as of June 2015): Take the RER A (regional railroad, accessible from several Paris stations, including Chatelet) to Champigny. Immediately outside the station is a bus stop. Take the 208 a, b, or s. The museum stop, named as such, is half a dozen stops down the road, but the spot is poorly marked so pay close attention. The trip from Chatelet to the museum should take around an hour.
The museum itself is four floors of exhibits, mostly in chronological order. There is a haphazard quality to the exhibit, but it also has fascinating newspaper clippings -- most of them original -- as well as extraordinary artifacts from the resistance and the Occupation. Many survivors of the resistance movements donated their materials to this institution. Everything is in French, so you'll either need a reading knowledge of the language or someone to come along.
That said, for those with a deep interest in World War II, it's a highly worthwhile experience -- especially in combination with the Musee de l'Armee at Invalides and the Musee Jean Moulin near Gare Montparnasse.Written June 25, 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The website said open everyday 2-6pm except Sat and Sun. However, when I rang the outside buzzer, a woman told me that it was not open except for next Tues - when I said their website stated 2-6pm, was told it was wrong. I was really upset since I made a special journey when I could have gone somewhere else. I wonder if Monsieur Jean Dubuffet was alive today what would he think of his Foundation?....I suspect very littleWritten September 9, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
