What travelers are saying
- Al N14 contributionsInteresting art space in a historic building in the colonial quarter of Yangon.
Exhibitions (mainly paintings, sometimes some scuptures) of mainly young Myanmar artists - each lasting only for a few days, so a good way of seeing works by many artists within a relatively short time span.Written June 11, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LeonhknyHong Kong, China14,495 contributionsThis is a small mosque in downtown Yangon. At a busy thoroughfare, Mogul Shia Mosque is at the centre of the Muslim community. It also reflects the former Burmese capital's multicultural landscape.Written September 7, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Peter472013Krakow, Poland30 contributionsA very impressive colonial british architecture. For several years deteriorating. Fortunately Yangon municipality /?/ has now began to restore many architectural gems. Maybe the city will not become a postmodernistic horror, like the rest of asia's big cities, after all.Written February 2, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ms RabaniLondon, UK18 contributionsWell. It is well known. You can have some felling about peace. But you will get well better if you know about it's history. Kyaikasan Pagoda of Myanmar, is very beautiful and historic one. Many people come here for praying and meditation. You can see how big and beautiful of pagoda with decoration of Buddhism and Burmese art and tradition.Written April 27, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. My wife visited this temple on our way from China Town to Sule pagoda. The temple was simple shape, but there had many beautiful statue inside. The Guanyin is one of Chinese saint, and woman. About 10 minutes to see around inside, but it was worth to visit.Written November 24, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. One of the most secure buildings on the list since colonial times. Many of these houses were built by colonialists with government offices. It is difficult to comprehend why some are so well cared for while others are damaged. Well-planned and well-maintained operations can save buildings that need to be restored for future generations to be saved.Written December 25, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Robert ORotterdam, The Netherlands3,935 contributionsThe Royal Court of Arms above the entrance of the British embassy says it all in French! "Those who want evil, will find God and my Law on their way".
It is a beautiful building and very well maintained due to the presence since 1948 of the embassy and the British Council. It dates from 1900 and served as an office of the prestigious J. and F. Graham Shipping Co.Written January 14, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The former Yangon Division Court is now a ruin with little care or attention given. Urgent repair work needed.Written September 7, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Robert ORotterdam, The Netherlands3,935 contributionsIn blue and white colors, this neoclassical bankbuilding dates from 1914 as is written on the facade. It is a cornerbuilding (Strand Road/Sule Pagoda Road) with a lovely round tower. As with many commercial buildings in the early 1900s it is meant to look robust and solid. Indeed it is, still standing after more than 100 years.
You can walk inside during office hours. The interior is a bit disappointing. Rather functional and old fashioned. It is used by Myanma Economic Bank.Written January 14, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
