I’m not going to lie, the walk up was moderate for sure. But boy was it worth it. The views are breathtaking and we got to see sloths and Tucans in their natural habitat. For something that is free to do it should be on your list.

Great view at the mirador just off the road. A couple of KMs up the road is the entrance to the Sender La Cruz. Based on the reviews i was expecting something more difficult, but it wasnt far or difficult. Its rustic, so it was a bit muddy and slippery, so i wouldnt recommend it for older people or ones that have difficulty with balance. But for avid hikers it should be a breeze. Took about 40 minutes up, and another half hour back. Beautiful views. Great spot for selfies, and apparently for locals looking to make out.
Best of all it was free! You can park right there and just walk right up, no problem!

Unfortunately we didnt have time to explore the rest of the park. But i would go back again!

I can’t recommend this trek highly enough; the Camino Real trek is hands down the best adventure hike I’ve been on in Panamá!

Rick Morales is a fantastic guide who is very prepared - he knows what he’s talking about and has an in-depth knowledge of the landscape. We got caught in some heavy rains but Rick had no issue in navigating the trail in the difficult conditions. Some of the highlights of the trip included spotting wildlife and tracks from a tapir, wild pig and other animals, and swimming in the natural pools and waterways every day. Above all, it was amazing to have the history of el Camino Real explained to us by Rick over several days as we walked through the jungle and came across the old cobblestones.

As someone who does a lot of hiking, I can safely say this is the ultimate adventure experience for outdoorsy people, I LOVED the whole experience, and totally immersive from a historical perspective. I thoroughly, thoroughly enjoyed every minute!

Gear and prep: Rick did an excellent job in communicating all the necessary preparations to make, including very detailed and complete information about the gear to bring and what to expect in terms of the physical demands of the trek. We used a hammock with a protective rain shelter to sleep - quick to set up and light to carry, and very comfortable. I had no issues in staying dry in the evenings. I found the gear recommendations and other general tips from Rick to be spot on! Rick also has comprehensive safety plans in case of an emergency.

Intensity/fitness: Definitely for adventure and jungle lovers – be prepared to be covered in mud/wet clothes most of the trip! A large part of the route follows waterways so expect to have wet feet. There can be some tricky bits with river crossings/hiking up rivers, but the trekking poles were a massive help. In terms of fitness, it’s not necessary to be a professional athlete but it is important is to be familiar and comfortable with outdoor walking/uneven terrain, and fit enough to carry your backpack up and down some hills. I packed light to avoid carrying too much weight – personal preference! Rick also organized additional local porters to carry the food, which was massive help as it cut down on weight.

Food: The meals surpassed my expectations, each meal was a different surprise and I thoroughly enjoyed the variety! There was also plenty of hot coffee available. Aside from meals provided by Rick I made my own trail mix with fruit-nut-chocolate.

Water: We refilled our water bottles enroute from the streams which are crystal clear. Rick provides a great water filter for everyone in the group to use and I had no issues. I carried a single big 1.5L bottle but it would be better to bring several smaller bottles to distribute the weight in your backpack, and make sure to have them easily accessible when you are walking.

Other tips: As we were in wet clothes-shoes all day, especially after some rain, it is very important to have a dry sleep! I brought a small dry bag just for my pyjamas and the hammock which I stored separately to other items, which kept everything dry despite multiple river crossings and rain. Bring extra garbage bags/ziplocs to keep things dry!

10/10 for diversity of terrain and natural surroundings, communication and preparation support from Rick second to none.

You will be drunk, tippin over, dancing and meeting new ppl at the same time. The stops include night clubs so dress up but down with a comfy shoe if you can! You’ll have a great time, but don’t book anything for early morning the next day 😂😂😂 our tour guide was awesome and engaging. Enjoy!

What a blast we had in the San Blas !

Great views, great company, great food, great activities (snorkelling, volleyball, dancing, boating).

3 nights and 4 days was the perfect amount of time to travel through and take in the scenery the islands.

The lack of internet and the basic infrastructure made this such a unique and authentic experience.

Lewis the guide was so lovely and polite. He managed the group extremely well, was always there to help and got everyone to mingle establishing strong friendships and bonds within the group.

One of the most special parts of this trip was getting to understand the cultures and traditions of the Kuna Yala community. We particularly enjoyed donning their traditional dress and learning the local dance.

Overall, this trip was fantastic and perfect for adventurous backpackers like our good selves. 10/10 - Would highly recommend!

    Love,

This a great place to find special and alternative gifts made by local artists and entrepreneurs. All their products capture the essence of the Panamanian culture with a modern twist. Wether you're in town for a few days or you a resident, make sure you go to Super Mini, I promise you won't be disappointed!

Also they always host events that enlighten local artists as well as folklore and culture.

We hired a 45” yacht from Captain Andres and his company PYA for a day trip to the Pearl Islands, as a celebration of my wife and daughters birthday. We had some slight complications as the date we where supposed to travel, we all ended up with Covid and had to rearrange the trip. The PYA staff helped us to arrange new dates at short notice and the communication was fantastic at all times!

The yacht we went on was the perfect size for our group of 11 people, and the Captain and deckhand did an amazing job. The highlight for sure was fishing on the way out to the islands, the crew made sure that my daughters and her friends all had a chance to fish and gave some great instruction with a lot of patience, we even caught a pretty decent Tuna which they later prepared and cooked for us at the islands.

Overall, a fantastic experience from the moment of booking to dropping us off, tired but happy, after a great day.

    Fantastic experience, highly recommended!

I would 110% recommend this trip. Forgot to mention they actually got to put the sails up on the was back to port! The boat was a BEAUTY!

Panama CityHilton booked us a City/Canal tour w PBA…our guide was Sherina,. She was a knowledgeable and delightful young woman, apparently a teacher during the week ad guide on weekends. Went with the flow of our interests, with deviations to the general route based on our interests- extra time at the canal, finding some local cuisine. A great time for a reasonable price!

There are not enough words to express our gratitude to Sorhay for putting together a family trip of a lifetime. We toured with Sorhay in Panama for three days. Sorhay doesn't give you a "tourist experience" she gives you a real, authentic and behind the scenes experience I don't believe you can get anywhere else. She took us to a spot to see sloths and monkeys where no other tourists were. We and our children were able to interact and play with the Embera children and get to know them as people, not just us as spectators. We picked out frest fruit, coconuts , and fish from local vendors and the food she provided for us was fresh and beautifully prepared. Sorhay also has an uncanny ability to get to know us as a family with each of our different personalities, and learn quickly each of our likes and dislikes. There was no prescribed tour, if we were enjoying ourselves she made sure we had more time for whatever we were enjoying, and when we were ready to move on, she made it happen. She has such a lively, kind, and genuine personality and we all truly miss her. Thank you Sorhay for such a wonderful trip, any family that is lucky enough to experience Panama with you is in for a real treat!!
We hope we can come back and tour with you again some day!!
