This has been my second staying since 2017. I choose to stay here again because of the positive experience. The place is clean. There are small lockers for valuables but may be too small for professional camera. There is no big changes, only the facilities and decorations process a reasonable depreciation. For example, I guess there should be partial renewal during the pandemic like repainting of the wall but I was wrong. However, it doesn’t affect the experience. I will consider staying in Imano if I have solo trip to Tokyo again.

Excellent location walking distance to Shinjuku, and very reasonably priced for the area. Good quality sleep for a 10-bed dorm, guests were respectful and pod-style beds make it easy to have darkness. Overall very clean, staff friendly. Excellent free breakfast included in our stay composed of a choice of 3 paninis, fruits, vegetables and potatoes, as well as buffet cereal. Would be nice to have another quick option like toast as the paninis do take some time to make, but very good quality breakfast. Bar area downstairs and lounges on dorm floors, though I did not find there was much atmosphere overall, but I did not mind as we did not choose this hostel for atmosphere. Overall good value for money.

I’ve stayed here a few times now and you really can’t beat the price for the value you get. Every time I’ve stayed here the staff were so kind, personable and remembered my name! The rooms were clean and quiet, I stayed on the all-female floor. Accommodations are tight and the lockers are small, and you have to share bathroom and kitchen space but that is what you sign up when you book a hostel. The difference here is that the quality of much higher than an average hostel. Also the location is clutch, near all my favorite things in Shinjuku, very close to a subway stop, and down the street from Ni-Chome, the LGBTQ area, which is important to me. If you’re on a budget stay here!

This was a great space to kick off our tour of Japan. It introduced our kids to hostels and the chance to meet others. The staff really made this stay. They were helpful and ultra nice which pushed up the rating. The private room wasn’t much to write about and the bed not ultra comfy but the takoyaki evening, games on offer and other extras made up for it. Good location.

What I like: 1. The reception staff were nice. 2. The reception lobby is clean. 3. The cereals in their buffet were delicious. 4. The hostel is close to the heart of Shinjuku district. 5. The hostel provided free slippers for guests. What I didn't like: 1. The dormitory bed was made of wood and small movements on the bed can produce squeaking noises that can be annoying. 2. The hostel only has two showers in their dormitory floor and you have to wait in line especially if a lot are going for shower at the same time. 3. The hostel does not provide free locker for luggage. The free locker they provide for guests can only fit wallets and very small bags and to use it you have to deposit 1000JPY first before you can use , which will be given back to you again after you checkout. 4. They have additional charge for use of towels - other hostels I have stayed with provide this for free.

This is the best hostel I have ever stayed at. From when I walked in the door the staff were very welcoming and could speak English well. I appreciated that the staff treat you as a friend, there is a real family feeling you get. The dorm I stayed in was clean, with a good storage area and power outlets. The bathroom was large and well kept. The common room area was nice with a great social atmosphere. I liked that the hostel has special events and activities on particular days. The location was perfect, within walking distance of Golden Gai and attractions like the Robot Restaurant in Kabukicho. If you are looking for a hostel in Shinjuku look no further, I had a awesome stay here.

Great atmosphere, staff are so friendly and willing to help. Located just away from the main action which was good with great transport links to jr and other lines. Would definitely recommend this place to stay for a few days. The only downfall is no place to securely store your backpack or suitcase. Security boxes are available for small valuables to be locked away. Facilities were great as well as good wifi!

I stayed in the Male Mixed Level (Level 4) 10 People Dorm Rooms and found the hostel experience here to be amazing right from the first moment. 1. Staff - Quick and easy check in/check out. They required my passport and provided a lot of details as to the surrounding location. They were really friendly and were very hospitable! Potential to store luggage if you need to check in early or check out late. 2. Rooms - One of the only cons about this place is the difficulty of getting to the bed if you are at the top, a lot of times I missed to fall because of the ladder. However, a few people in my room did fall from the ladder due to its size! Request a bed on the bottom bunk if possible. You get a designated space to put your luggage, a small bench for a backpack and 2 hangers which is in your room. All the rooms are accessible via lift, with the rooms locked by a code given at check in. The pillow and the bed mattress are really hard and difficult to sleep on, but I know the hostel is currently introducing new ones. There is a light and 2 electrical point sockets in each bed. 3. Amenities - 200 yen to rent a towel. Also, they have small tiny lockers for valuables. The free Wi-Fi service was okay, a little slow at times. 4. Facilities - Toilets were really clean and in abundance! Showers were a little bit harder to come by, however provided continuous hot water for long periods of time in addition to the shampoos and soaps provided. They hostel provides a small basket to place your clothes in, a hanger though on the back of the door would really help! Really clean bathroom sinks and mirrors as well! 5. People/Events – Really easy to meet people of all ages and nationalities both downstairs in the cafe and up in the common rooms (a few tables and chairs) on each floor! I think this is what really makes the hostel what it is, as the areas to meet people are in abundance! They run happy hour on most nights, with certain events taking place sometimes instead - Darts Night, Trivia Night, Takoyaki making night (this one was my favourite for sure)! Sometimes you would meet people at the events and then head out after for drinks/dinner or sight-seeing during the day. 6. Location - 4 Minute walk from Shinjuku Sanchome station, 7 Minute walk from Higashi Shinjuku station, 3 Minute walk from the infamous Golden Gai/Shinjuku area! McDonald’s is a 5 Minute walk and the nearest grocery store is a minute away on foot. This hostel is perfectly situated. Overall, I cannot recommend this hostel enough! It is a bit more pricier regards to the other hostels/capsules. But I can definitely say it is worth it! Hoping to come back and stay with Imano again in the near future!
