The food (we all had pizza) was ok, but the service let the whole thing down. I can only describe it at brusque. Not an ounce of warmth could be detected and we felt largely like an inconvenience. One of the staff knocked a beer over a pizza when putting another down. No real apology, the pizza was replaced but the beer wasn’t. When we asked for a replacement a small beer was brought out to replace the spilt large beer. When we commented on how that wasn’t what we expected, it was clear they felt we were being difficult. Lots of other nice restaurants in this lovely little town. Give them your custom instead.

Food and service was good and the staff excellent, considering we were a group of 80 plus persons. We were seated outside by the edge of the river and waterfall. Excellent ambiance, lovely weather but due to the compact size of the market place in general a rather strong wind spoilt it somewhat. Has we were only here to eat I'm unable to comment on the hotel itself.

Annex room lovely . Ideal location. Evening waiter's and food very good. Breakfast good BUT the waitresses in a morning are the most miserable rude people we have come across in Germany . Hospitality industry means just that they need a new career.

We booked in for four days starting August 31st. Had seen rooms on website and had visited the restaurant side of the hotel many times before. We were made aware on arrival that we were in an annex across the market place. Room was pokey (small) , noisy and poorly equipped. Not what we were expecting. We checked out after one awful night. The Manager just shrugged when I complained. NEVER AGAIN.

We arrived quite late to this hotel so did not spend much time in it and unfortunately could not make use of the spa facilities. Our room was well appointed and spotless with plenty of room. We made the restaurant with thirty minutes to spare but found the staff rather dis enclined to serve us though not rude or anything like that , maybe it had been a long shift, the pizzas when they arrived were excellent. Breakfast in the morning was also superb but again one grumpy waitress the rest brilliant, perfectly situated, central and good parking right to the rear.

We thought we would try this place for lunch as walked past a few times an the food looked good, so fish was salmon or trout in a few different forms with pomme frites an a beer an my wife had a pizza, the pizza arrived first an seemed good an my fish turned up slightly over grilled 5 mins later, was nice I have to say , staff came back after we finished an asked if we wanted coffee or desserts, no thanks, an they just walked off, we wanted to pay but he just disappeared in side, we waited a while to catch a waiter attention but they seemed oblivious to us until I waved at one an caught his eye, it wasn't busy but the staff seemed more in talking to each other , as it happened a few more people sat down an we managed to pay on card, the waiter asked me if I would like to pay the staff an kitchen some money too, cheeky, no, an we left. Not sure if I would go back as there are a few others there to try

It’s story time..... We came here for lunch in the middle of the week. They were showing off big signs of the “fresh asparagus season”, and of course we fell for it... The time it took to get seated and able to order should have triggered the warning bells for us to leave. Yet we stayed. The restaurant was nowhere close to packed and there were several waiters hanging out behind the bar, but we were told there was only one guy with the “machine” who was in charge and able to take the orders....so after being seated by the rude, arrogant man “with the machine” we waited. And waited. And waited. He was “very busy” serving the tables next to us and the empty tables outside. And if someone came to sit down he was there in two seconds. After having asked several times to order he finally came to us, rolling his eyes and rudely started taking our order when he suddenly disappeared in the middle of it, no apologies. After finally ordering asparagus and waiting another 15-20 minutes he comes back and tells us they are out of asparagus. No apologies. Meaning we have to wait again until he comes back to take the “new order”. By now it’s all started to look like a big joke, and foolishly enough we stay because we are starving and it’s pouring rain outside.... Food finally arrives, an hour later. It’s edible. But who can mess up tagliatelle with pesto? It just had a foul taste to it. Luckily it was a lot faster to pay! And when the very friendly waiter with the machine came back with the bill, without asking how the food was or if we were happy, asked if we wanted to add tips..... It’s not allowed in Germany. Biggest joke of the day. Learn from our mistakes kids! Save your money for something better. Just don’t go anywhere near here!

My husband & I had the pleasure to visit Saarburg for only 1 night. From the moment we ascended the hill into the village we knew we were somewhere special. An ancient village with beautiful buildings and the most magnificent waterfall running down the middle of the street. We were welcomed by locals and directed to our hotel the Hotel Am Markt. Our room overlooked the village and was immaculately clean and stunning bathroom with bath. The hotel manager and owner Peter welcomed us and made our stay very special. The food was great. The shops were gorgeous. We walked up to the castle and the whole village is surrounded by grape vines that makes their famous Riesling wine. This village is very near the border of France, Belgium, Switzerland. We will be back to explore further.

We asked for a quiet room and were given a suite in an annex. Access was a little strange, but the room was very spacious and quiet. A life size wire sculpture of the three graces was lost in a corner! Big bathroom, comfy bed and a nice breakfast. The hotel was a 10 minute walk from the station with our wheely cases.

Myself and my wife arrived fairly late into the evening and the waterside was busy. We found a vacant table by the river and I asked if we could sit there. Despite being busy she said of course, and a waitress was soon with us to clear the table and get us some drinks. The food was nice and the setting was lovely, the sound of the waterfalls in the background and the ducks on the river next to us was very tranquil. We felt very welcome and appreciated the good service, we definitely recommend this venue :)
