Very nice location and settimg in La Fortalesa fortess. Everything here was first class. Arriving was easy driving in front of the main door and check-in process effective and pleasant. There is a garage to park car overnight. Room was excellent. Spacious bathroom with both good shower and bath with a view. Bed is big and good. B&O tv. Balcony is nice too. There in outdoor swimming pool and jacuzzi (in spa). Restaurant is very good, both on breakfast and especially on dinner. This is very good hotel near Girona, if you have a car. It is also easily accessible by taxi, if you don’t. We had a dinner at El Celler de Can Roca during our stay and travelled there and back by taxi (around 15 euros one way).

It has been an awesome experience from the very best contact (thru email and telephone) until the departure time. The team is excellent and very professional, with a lot of passion in their service and great attention to details. The Restaurant was just perfect (we had breakfast and the gastronomic menu at dinner). Every single staff there is committed and delivers the best service, exceeding all expectations. The guy at the entrance was so charming, polite and friendly, the best welcome ever! At the reception we have been checked in by Gerard, excellent in all senses, the afternoon we met Jaume, another brilliant receptionist. The Front Desk Manager, Núria, was very helpful and professional. The room (we booked one of the duplex) was just perfect, the views from the bathroom facing the Empordà were fantastic. We had a balcony facing the swimming pool were to watch the sunset from. The hotel pool and Spa are very well maintained, excellent level of cleanness... It has been an amazing experience that we will definitely repeat and for sure recommend to our friends and relatives. Thank you!

Beautiful hotel, excellent restaurant and gracious helpful staff. Rooms have soaking tubs, luxurious beds and magnificent views. An ideal place to order breakfast in bed! The spa is small but nice. A short drive to Girona and El Cellar de Can Roca. Great place for a romantic weekend away!

I do find tripadviser useful, but given the hotel is in its first year, I didn’t pay too much attention to some of the reviews and went with an open mind. We had come across the hotel in a newspaper review and went mon- fri for our honeymoon. It was superb. Quiet, discreet, beautiful decor and architecture. We were aware of the food options on booking. Room service menu on the first two days was enough for us (you can eat anywhere in the hotel), tasting menu superb (special memories there), lazy lunches in the museum just down the hill. I had tea in my room, WiFi and IT top notch, pool beautiful and warm. We felt very lucky to have found this place. When we arrived a couple were checking out having already visited three times. It’s the kind of place you would like to keep secret, although the team deserve recognition for all their efforts. I wish them every success. We hope to return.

You arrive to a fort high up on a hill, via a small and very green road. Bellboy that take your car, a concierge does the check in for you while you can enjoy the view and a drink. The spa was really nice, we love the heated lounger and the steam room. We had a 20 courses dinner with 10 wines. It was a wonderful meal, plates came in like a ballet, perfect flavor, lots of varieties. Then also knew how to deal with food allergies with a smile and very inventive solution. The view from the room was great, landscape for miles. Minus was the cold jacuzzi and pool.

Perched atop a hill with views to die and a pool that is sculpted to resemble something from Mount Olympus as well as a decor that so opulent that it makes Versailles look like a tenement flat, what can go wrong? Many things. Its a sad indictment on the owners or management of this hotel that after they have really splashed the cash, the experience here really crashed. Firstly its in the middle of nowhere and a cab ride to Girona town costs 20 to 25e. A two-way trip sets you back 45 to 50e. In other words you are in the middle of nowhere. It is therefore imperative that you offer to guests more than room service everyday- you need to have a restaurant open. But hey, the culinary genius they hired only works 4 and a half days a week! There is nothing more than room service (glorified bar grub) on Mondays, Tuesdays and half of Sundays. Even if the exec chef takes time off, why can't the sous chef cook on these days? Next, it is obvious the interior designer was allowed a free hand and a mammoth budget with no input from anyone who has experience in customer safety or hotel operations. The shower or bath area has no fittings to put your towels or clothes. The bathtub is extremely unfriendly or even unsafe for older customers who have suboptimal dexterity and balance. It is noteworthy that there are no mugs or glasses for you to rinse your mouth when you brush your teeth. So you end up using stemless Speigelau wine glasses for that purpose. Yes, they can these wine glasses as standard equipment in the rooms but no mugs. They also give you good teabags but all they have are expresso cups. And should you want to really make tea, you need to ask for a boiler to be brought into your room. The hotel appears extremely shorthanded even though it has only 15 guests rooms. They have one staff to process the billings at checkout and carry the luggage The whole experience at this hotel is a thoroughly disjointed one. It is obvious they are aspiring to greatness through the hardware put in place but meandering surely into mediocrity with an operating software that is so full of bugs that it is not in the least amusing.

We booked a night in this hotel for our stay in Girona. It is very luxurious, set upon the top of the nearby hills. The rooms are well sized, and the toilet has a separate shower room and bathtub. However the room only has one set of curtains, a separate sheet for light would be welcomed. The TV is really too complicated for me, and trying to turn on Chromecast for the wifi password works if you are on Android, good luck for those on iOS. The pool is nice and enjoyable in the sunny afternoon. One disappointment was that due to the Long weekend, all of the restaurants in the hotel was unavailable. (pls read the fine print when you confirm the reservations). We had to take a cab to the city for dinner, cos we don’t really relish eating room service in a five stay hotel. Overall the hotel could have done better and paid attention to the practical aspect in the details.

We have travelled extensively and stayed at many 5* hotels. I booked this hotel with anticipation and high expectations due to reviews. The access and road approach was wonderful. Serene location and high up in the mountains overlooking the valleys. The room was beautiful and the toilets are large, well stocked with luxury products and spacious. That is where the nightmare begins. First, there is NO food or dinner for Monday night which was the night we stayed. Only burgers and sandwiches as part of room service. The only restaurant there is closed for dinner Sunday to Tuesday. So we were shocked that we have to book a taxi back to Girona where we came from to find dinner. Simply unacceptable for this price we pay to have a bed and room only and no food. Even 3* hotels have a decent restaurant and cafe in Girona Second, the staff and service was slow and unprofessional. They do not know when guests are upset (which we were) and could not be bothered when we threatened to write a poor review. So if the management and staff do not bother and could not care less, why waste your money on them? Please don't go

This is a very beautiful hotel. Great care has been put into the design. We highly appreciated almost all aspects of the hotel. The breakfast, however, is service only (apart from room service). It is very very slow and unless they change this in future to a buffet breakfast we will not return. Otherwise this is a stunning destination. Wonderfully relaxing. I recommend this for couples looking to be pampered.

My wife, son (7) and I had the wonderful opportunity to stay here for three nights in July; it was a perfect counterpoint to the noise and energy of Barcelona. It's hard to single out any specific high point, since everything was done perfectly. Every window looks out at an amazing vista of the Catalonian countryside, each area of the hotel is thoughtfully and dramatically lit, everything combines into a completely unique experience, both modern and classical in the same package. Girona is a short 10-minute drive, and the Costa Brava beach towns are all about 45 minutes away. Parts of the property feel like you're staying inside a museum, other parts feel like a Bond villain's secret lair (meant as a compliment!). Even just exploring the spa area, with its tiny hallways and rooms, is an adventure. This seems like one of Spain's best-kept secrets, but it won't be for long...
