First stayed at the hotel in 1996 - and had many lovely stays - however this weekend as disappointing. - poor food quality that was not cheap - but very poor quality, room was very small and we were greeted with a dirty cloth in the bathroom on arrival. This is not a cheap hotel and is simply cutting corners on food and service - such a shame as in the past has been much better.

We arrived early and were told we could store our luggage in a room until our room was ready. Room was clean and warm. Made to feel very welcome in the bar with our little JRT. Breakfast was tasty. Would recommend.

would recommend this hotel to family and friends. only stayed for a night but wished I'd booked more time there, it was lovely. positioned right in the heart of Ambleside with plenty of bus routes to go exploring further afield and then return to the hotel to enjoy the food on offer in the hotel restaurant. great staff, very friendly and attentive.

I am very happy to recommend this hotel as it was so welcoming with very courteous and professional staff with an excellent cooked breakfast. My poached eggs were cooked to perfection. Mac my dog has his own towel, dish and poo bags. I managed to park just outside of the hotel, there are few spaces so I was lucky and parking is free from 6pm till 10am.

This was a family trip and we had a great stay. The room was nice, clean and warm. The Inn is located right at the heart of Ambleside but it is conveniently close to the most scenic trails of the Lake District. While there is no parking close to the Inn, there is the possibility to park the car at a short walk distance. We also had dinner at the Pub. Ambience is cozy and relaxing and the food was very good.

The staff were helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The chef went out of his way to make sure my diet was catered for and I had a lovely hot meal. Nice to see a place where well behaved dogs and muddy wet walkers are welcome (It rained a lot but that's the Lakes for you). Perfect!

Lovely place but I think the cleaner was in a rush. Nice restaurant and the food was good. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Location is great but you need to park in one of the main car parks which was fine for me but something to be aware of if carting lots of bags etc. Parking is about 8 quid for 24 hours which is great.

Not very welcome. We searched online after stopping at Ambleside to get breakfast. The Ambleside Inn said it was open from 7.30am at around 9.30an we went In from a sunrise walk absolutely soaking wet. She refused to let us eat there as we wasn't residents even though we was trying to pay. She could clearly see how wet we both were but she did not care before telling us to go.
