The room I had no:16 was average but I am giving the hotel a rating of very good due to the very friendly staff and that the room was very clean Our room was very cluttered To much furniture especially chairs for the room and our window looked straight onto a courtyard with tables so the people could see us in our room so we had to shut the wooden shutters that made the room dark This wasn’t a problem as we were straight in and out but may cause a problem for someone wanting to spend time in the room Maybe some privacy sticky stuff on the windows would be better Check in Was quick and they let us have our rooms earlier than check in time The receptionist was very welcoming and friendly Although the hotel is very old fashioned I would stop here again Great location to markeaton park and lovely chippy/pizza place around the corner that is open till late Although the room was old fashioned it is Georgian house so a modern feel wouldn’t suit the name The bathroom is modern clean and new looking I would stop here again due to the cleanliness and friendly staff

Liked.Breakfast was nice ..but it took over an hour to arrive .not much choice . Location was OK Disliked · Room 14 had no description or pictures on booking .com, pictures of the other rooms looked really nice, couldn't use the loo without having the door open as knees hit the door, curtain pole missing fittings one of which was outside the window, a ladder was directly outside the emergency exit causing an obstruction, electric pac test had no date, furniture in bedroom wasn't in keeping with a grade 2 listed building as was made of plywood.

This place has made it to our favourite stay yet! An amazing old building, super quirky. Not perfect, but that’s how we like it! We felt welcomed and relaxed as soon as we stepped through the door. Our room had a wonderful four poster bed and had one of the most comfortable mattresses we’ve slept on, even at properties costing 2 or 3 times as much. We didn’t eat there but are planning to next time as the food smelled delicious. The pub downstairs was great with an excellent selection of beers and ales. Lots of photographs and items which adds to the charm of the building. We now have a great place to stay to attend gigs and events in Derby at a great price.

Spoken to manager, not interested, Getting back to my room after a family Breezemount, waking up about 11 pm freezing no contact with reception at all delayed my frozen night and lack of shower with no hot water. Young lady apologised, saying should be heaters in vain therefore, their knowledge that the heating does not work, but no heater in the room. Beautiful old hotel stayed there a few times but lack of compassion from Sam the manager, and when I said I need to speak to the owner but still was not interested. just people be aware. A lot of money to spend to be frozen and no hot water to have a shower.

The Georgian House Hotel is a lovely old building, I've stayed here during the summer, it wasn't the cleanest or most comfortable place to stay, but it was ok and handy for the town, however this time we were in room 6 the mattresses were plastic covered and when sat on squashed to nothing making the very uncomfortable, there were 2 pillows both around 2 inches thick, the quilt was the same, the room itself was heated by a Luke warm radiator, situated by the door , it was freezing and we both had to wear coats when sat in the room, the radiator went off at 11 pm, we did complain and one of the very apologetic staff brought us an extra pillow, the heating remained the same, we did ask for a heater but we're told there wasn't one available, again we had to dress to go to bed, I have to say the staff were lovely and helpful , my partner and I won't be staying there again and wouldn't recommend anyone else stay

I booked here after needing somewhere in Derby close to the town centre on a main arterial route served by public transport. The building and interior are grand, quirky and full of interesting furnishings. Staff are very friendly and the room I stayed in was well equipped clean and tidy. The four poster bed was a surprising feature and very comfortable. After plans changed I booked again for more nights in the same week. Initially I was placed in a different room, at the far end of the hotel. Unfortunately this didn't have a wifi connection which could have proved a problem for the three nights stay. However they were more than happy to switch me back to my original room, which I then locked myself out of by accident, making it an interesting first impression for all! The food options in the evening were limited at the time of my stay due to staff absence but on the Sunday evening I sampled the wonderful pizza provider situated on the premises and the bar is very reasonably priced. I sampled breakfast one of the mornings (additional £9.50) which was incredible quality. The bacon was thick and gorgeous, the eggs perfect, the full English in full was top notch. Toast, cereals and juice was also provided with a pot of tea but I couldn't finish it all! I didn't sample any other food or facilities whilst staying, worth noting there is a pub quiz on a Thursday evening (all but 1 table in the bar was reserved by 6pm) and they do show live sports when on (ie premier league over the weekend) They offer very competitive room rates, in a great location for a 15 minute walk into Derby city centre. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff I had the pleasure of dealing with. I would recommend 100% and love to have the opportunity to return.

I needed a centrally located hotel when visiting my daughter and thought the Georgian looked interesting and good value. I must say that every aspect of my stay exceeded my expectation. To start with the mundane, the hotel was easy to find and the private car park on site. On arrival and check in the manager could not have been more helpful. My room was large with a four poster bed and a large on-suite. The antique furniture tasteful, functional and in keeping. The pub, “Mr Grundys” which is part of the hotel is interesting with many curious artefacts. The patrons are likewise diverse and interesting, tending to range from friendly locals earlier in the evening to dinning couples later on. My daughter and I took supper in the pub, good quality, well prepared pub food, large portions and excellent value. The service from members of staff who were genuinely interested in the hotel and it guests was excellent throughout. There was a generous selection of ales many brewed on site, delicious and perfectly kept. When I retired I slept unusually well, partly due the the exceptional ale and partly due to the high quality mattress. In the morning I took breakfast in the dinning room. As much tea coffee, cereals and toast as you could wish and a freshly cooked to order full English, again consisting of high quality ingredients. My daughter and her friend turned up for breakfast and the manager set additional places for them without fuss. We took a tour of the ground floor a fascinating Georgian building with so much of interest and a conservatory with vines growing through and a wood fired pizza oven, something for next time. The hotel is clean and well presented, no mean feat given the age of the building and its antique fittings. I can’t wait to stay again. A complete antidote to modern plastic chain hotels with reheated or microwaved food, unspeakable breakfasts and disinterested workers.

Turned up, to find the room very cramped and small, but i guess others would call it 'quaint'. I wasn't told about the fact i needed a code to get access to the part of the building where my room is. I returned around 2.30am to find everything locked. The bell doesn't work, tried to phone, no one there, so gave up. Had to stay at the jurys hotel ( very friendly, professional staff there by the way) I came back the next day, the person who let me in didn't even fake an apology and I was told i should have bashed the window, as if i was crazy for not thinking of that, potentially waking everyone up 😂 When I checked out I could hear the woman, who i assume is the manager, saying "well she's already used the facilities now so i can't give her a refund etc" She was very rude when i left and the apology certainly didn't sound genuine. She just seemed very defensive. I have cancelled my future booking and would recommend anyone to stay somewhere else. Im sure the staff will be having a giggle at this but if i treated people like this at my job in the NHS then id be getting the sack.

We we supposed to be staying here on Saturday night, but they had doubled booked the room - so we were bounced with no apology. Not acceptable in my view, resulting in increased costs and stress in finding somewhere else We had paid in full in advanced - very shoddy practice Avoid like the plague
