I'd been booked to stay in September 2020 but had to cancel due to COVID. The nice, understanding message I received back from a staff member at that time led me to make this my first choice when I finally got to Madrid three years later. In person, I found the staff were just as nice, and very helpful. (Reception is open 24/7.) I loved the wonderful view of the Royal Palace I had from the balcony during my five-night stay. The palace is illuminated till late in the evening so its presence could be enjoyed during wind-down time as well as in the day. The hotel's terrace also had great views. Being so close to the palace, its gardens, associated museums and the cathedral was a great advantage. It was possible to walk to many other sights too. Supermarkets and Pio Principe railway station and subway were nearby. Another highlight was the free guided tour of the hotel's wonderful vintage and veteran car collection. The guide, a staff member, was excellent and delivered much interesting information about the cars in Spanish and then English. The apartment itself was stylish and comfortable, with a good amount of space. There was a large bed (the bed gets made for you daily), handy bedside tables, a two-seater lounge with attractive cushions, a small table with three chairs, a long desk, a large tv, a floor lamp and ample power sockets. The wardrobe had lots of room, and it contained a safe, an iron and a cute small ironing board. It was quiet at night and I slept well. The kitchenette had a fridge, stovetop, microwave, deep sink (you do your own washing up), electric jug, heaps of cupboard space and the basics for preparing, cooking and serving food. The bathroom had good lighting, quality towels, a nice big sink, and a good amount of bench and shelf space. It was great to have a bath as well as a shower, although it was a bit hard to put the plug in and test the temperature due to the immovable shower screen being at the same end of the bath. Wi-Fi was only available for one device which was somewhat inconvenient. Also, complimentary items such as tea and coffee, water and "beauty kits" were not replenished after the first night. The breakfast buffet had a good amount of choice and everything was fresh and tasty. On the last morning I had to leave before breakfast time, so the staff organised a picnic I could take with me. It was great, the best I had among several during my trip, lots of thoughtful inclusions. Thank you, such a positive ending to my stay and time in Madrid! …
