Hotel La Vue D'Or is celebrated for its prime location and the stunning views it offers, with guests frequently lauding the cleanliness of both the rooms and facilities. The staff is often commended for their helpfulness, although some guests have encountered service inconsistencies and shuttle bus issues. While the rooms are praised for their comfort, some visitors miss having in-room tea/coffee facilities. Despite its tranquility, critics of the hotel cite a lack of food quality and variety, thin walls, and outdated decor as detractors from the overall experience.

This location is absolutely stunning! We were warmly welcomed by all of their staff and are a delicious meal with one of the most astounding views I have ever had. There is a full bar there. There are tables outside to eat as well. The landscaping is beautiful.

We’d a super time for our pearl wedding anniversary. Brilliant hotel. Beautiful location. Very friendly staff. Loved it and would go back. Little more choice at breakfast would be good. Tony, waiter is hilarious.

A big thank you to all the staff that make us feel very welcome. I big shout-out to the wonderful and very kind Federica who exceeded our expectations and helped us in a time of need. The view from our room and the dining room was breathtaking. Quiet and relaxing hotel environment with no noise. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the Sorrento area. The only minor issue we had was the bed being a little firmer than we would have liked, but don't let this put you off staying. We would book this hotel again when visiting Sorrento.

Positive points: this hotel has some of the best views as it is quite high up away from Sorrento, (at least a 35 minute walk into town), clean, very quiet and tranquil with friendly staff. It has a swimming pool, but as with most Italian pools it isn’t heated and in October I wasn’t keen to use it as it’s too cold, which for me was disappointing. It has a regular shuttle bus service, every hour, except around lunchtime, for getting back and forth into Sorrento. Negative points: our room was a little tired and in need of some TLC and upgrading. After a downpour of rain one morning, water flooded under the balcony doors into the room. Our room was sparse, dull and had nothing in the way of those little extras that we’ve come to except, like tea/coffee making facilities or even a kettle, and no tissues…had to use the toilet roll. Their room service charged and extra €5 and when I was I’ll one day, and had to stay in my room all day, I wanted some tea bought to me, this did not impress me at all. Worst of all was the food. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced such bad food ever in any holiday hotel in my whole life. At Breakfast we had very little choice, and the evening meals, if you were on the half board basis, were just dreadful. If you were eating a La Carte it seemed you got a better standard all round, including the plates it was served up on. We felt like second class citizens sitting next to those who were eating a La Carte! We even had to make our choices at breakfast time, when you really didn’t need that at 7 o’ clock in the morning. The best thing about the restaurant was the waiter, Tony, who was a complete clown, and he made everyone laugh 😂…maybe he was put there to take our minds off the food…lol Overall our experience was very average, beautiful views of Mount Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples, but I wouldn’t recommend it purely on the quality of the food alone.

Room was nice and hotel very clean. Problem was the location. While the property sits on a hilltop with an incredible view, you are pretty much trapped there. The have a free shuttle into town (actually a bus shared with other hotels) but it only runs hourly. The bus did not run on schedule and was early when we tried to use it so we missed it and had to wait another hour to return from town. I suppose u could overlook this issue if it were not for the restaurant on site. Food was the worst we had in Italy especially the breakfast. I would find something in Sorrento rather than being trapped in this location.

Hotel Vue D Or is situated some two miles outside of Sorrento and the only way to get in and out of the town is by a shared shuttle bus, which in fairness works very well. The hotel has great views, a good pool, (which unfortunately doesn,t catch the sun on an afternoon), is kept clean, has friendly staff, (mostly unless you complain) and is generally ok. Why you may ask have I then given it a rating of poor, in a word, the food, it is that bad I would think twice before feeding it to my Cavapoo. We were asked each morning to choose our evening meal, (which was most off putting), and the fun then was to remember what you had chosen and even more fun to actually identify what was on the plate. We worked out quite quickly that the reason for the pre-ordering was so that the food, (I use the term loosely), was prepared in the afternoon and heated up closer to being served. This arrangement allowed the kitchen staff to concentrate on their non half board guests, where presumably there was more profit to be made. Sufficient to say of the fare served up that the carrots and peas were tinned and the tomatoes not fresh, (in Italy for gods sake). I can only presume that the big tour companies had agreed fixed accommodation rates , which the hotel could not afford, and in an attempt to make the bookings viable had resorted to cutting back on the food costs. This drive for extra profits extended to any drinks ordered which were routinely short measured. In addition some of our fellow travellers were requested to pay their final bills in cash, I can only speculate what that was about, but it has never happened before to me when travelling Italy. In short a very pleasant holiday was spoiled by the actions of this establishment and i would urge you caution before choosing to stay there.

Hotel lovely.fantastic views.but the food is dismal.we are both vegetarian.there was no dietary info on the menu.we were told to just ask and they would make us anything we wanted...well, i got a salad for my main meal loads of mixed leaves that were old and slimy! Breakfast consisted of Cakes ,tinned pineapple ,fruit salad n cereal ooooo lets not forget the hot food that was cold! Scrambled eggs in a liquid.i asked for beans on toast for my tea.first time it was ok but, after that they put some sort of dried tomatoes in! You have to choose your evening meal at breakfast! Soup for starters every day.then the veggie option was ALWAYS pasta in tomato sauce of some kind.infact we never got any veggies all week.portions are small.pudding was a slice of cake or ice cream or another type of Italian dessert. No condiments on the table ...you have to ask. I needed water to take diabetic medicine and they bought me a big bottle ( to buy) i just needed a very small bit of tap water but the grumpy waiter said they didn't serve tap water! All in all this was the worst hotel ive ever stayed in.we ended up eating out for the last day.if you enjoy nice food then please don't stay here! The free bus service is good but packed on the 9.30 pm return .thought we were going to be stranded in sorrento.it was just way too busy for us all the time.

This is the second time I've stayed here. The first time was around 2013. The views from the hotel are absolutely stunning and the hotel and rooms are kept immaculately clean. The pool area is lovely and there were always plenty of sun loungers available, regardless of what time we went there. Many of the staff are also wonderful. I do think however that some things could be improved. The food during this stay was nowhere near as good as I remember it being. You also have to put your order in for dinner, at breakfast time, which isn't ideal. When the dinner did arrive it was often very average, overcooked and only lukewarm. The bread rolls were inedible as they were like rocks they were so stale! In a country with some of the best food in the world, this is disappointing to say the least! We noticed that the American and Italian guests were given their menu at dinnertime and were offered completely different options, which looked much more appealing! I suspect that this is to do with TUI trying to cut costs but I'm just speculating. It does make you feel like you're getting a bit of a raw deal though compared with other guests. We travelled with young children on this occasion and I don't feel it's well suited to staying with kids. Our little boy was really poorly during our stay with an ear infection and we were made to feel really uncomfortable by some other guests and some of the staff when he was upset and crying on a few occasions. Being away from home with a poorly toddler is never fun for anyone but the experience was definitely made tougher by this. There's also only one highchair at the hotel and on a few occasions someone else was already using it so I ended up having to have my toddler on my knee for the entire meal. The shuttle bus was tricky to use in the evening as the buses coming back up from Sorrento were in very high demand. There was no queuing to speak of and several guests would arrive late and push others out of the way to board the bus meaning that each time some people (who had been waiting a long time) would be left behind and would have to then wait another hour for the next one. Last time we stayed there was a small shuttle bus just for this hotel and we had no issues. This time there was a big coach for several hotels and it definitely wasn't enough for the level of demand in peak season. (I would say the driver himself however was lovely and did his absolute best to get as many people as possible on the bus.) Lastly, there were some occasions when the staff at the hotel could have been more helpful to be honest. I arrived late at night due to flight delays with two young (overtired) children and my mum, who is in her mid 70's, but although the hotel was very quiet, no-one offered to help us with our luggage, which would have been a nice gesture. We also asked on a few occasions if we could sit on a particular table and were told we couldn't as they weren't made up (in reality it would have just involved putting cutlery and glasses on the table so it didn't seem a huge deal but the staff weren't happy to do this.) Overall this is a lovely hotel with plenty of positives but I would say that there are a few things that they could do to make it better and I don't think it's a great option if you're travelling with kids. I probably won't stay a third time as I think there are better options in this area.
