Hotel Riviera is a great base to explore Liguria. We are just back from a 5 night stay and it was the perfect base to explore Portofino, Santa Marguarita, Levanto and the Cinque Terre from. We had a good size room for a family of 3 with air conditioning, which was such a relief given the very hot weather. Beds were comfortable, good mini bar to keep our water chilled and modern bathroom. Breakfast was amazing with lots of fresh fruit, foccacia bread, Italian cakes, cheese, yogurts ,cereal etc. And of course delicious coffee. Hotel is ideally located opposite a public beach (free) and lido (paid). Lovely walking path along the beach with buskers and artists in the evening. Near the port and tourist boat service. Plenty of wonderful restaurants nearby all as good as each other. 5 minutes walk from the train station which we used many times to explore the area. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Good lift. The hotel was exactly what we wanted and delighted we got in at such late notice. Thanks Hotel Riviera for making our holiday so enjoyable 😎

We stayed for a few nights and got back more tired than we were before check-in. We had a very small and basic room, which is not even featured on any official website pictures. No bed lamps. There was a very weird smell coming from the pipes. Windows weren't soundproof, and we didn't have a single night of good rest (there is a very busy roundabout right before the hotel). The shower knob was broken and we could not change the temperature of the water. After giving feedback to the reception, we were informed it'll be taken care of and left the key to the room at the reception. When we came back a few hours later, the receptionist said she doesn't know where our key is and if we've taken it with us... Well, turned out the hotel had simply handed the key to the handyman and the handyman left the key hanging outside the lock of our door after he was finished. EVERYBODY COULD HAVE EASILY ENTERED THE ROOM. For hours, the key was accessible to everybody. Under no circumstances is this acceptable in a hotel. There was no apology, they simply didn't seem to care about us as hotel guests. There is also no iron facility on the hotel ground (apparently for safety reasons, but why are other hotels across the world able to handle "safety" when dealing with irons?). Also, the hotel doesn't provide beach towels. We didn't try the breakfast and preferred to have breakfast outside. Generally, we didn't feel very welcome and not taken care of, as you can expect from a hotel. I'd rather rate it as a hostel, not a hotel with 3 stars. Thank you for nothing.

Would highly recommend this small hotel. It’s in a great location, a 5 minute walk to the railway station, looking out over the harbour and with a lido across the road. Bars, cafes and restaurants nearby. Reception staff were so very helpful and friendly , rooms are modern and very clean and breakfast choices good.

We selected Rapallo as our base in the Italian Riviera as it is very close to Genova, Portofino and the Cinque Terre. It worked out to be a great choice - 15 minutes by car to Sta. Margarita Ligure and another 10 minutes to Portofino (buses/trains also available) and 15-minute drive to Levanto/Cinque Terre Card train service (or a 5-minute walk for Rapallo train service to the Cinque Terre). The Hotel Riviera is a great choice, located directly on the piazza overlooking the sea, an just a few steps from the historic town center with restaurants and shops. Our sea-view room was lovely, though with an extra bed (perfect for a small family), a little crowded. The bathroom was clean and well appointed (one note - bring your own shampoo, as none was provided). The staff was very attentive and helpful. We were provided with parking for our car (extra fee, about which we knew in advance) right opposite the hotel. The breakfast buffet was well-stocked and laid out in a sunny room. And there was a great morning market set up along the sea promenade on Thursday morning - with everything from food to housewares and clothing. Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay in Rapallo.

We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel, which was nicer that many four or five star places we have stayed in. The owners and all the staff were very friendly and helpful in every way. The breakfast was good and the room very nice with a beautiful sea view and a small balcony. Everything was really clean. The location is excellent in the middle of town, but that meant quite a bit of traffic noise if the windows were open. During our stay the beach in front closed up their facilities, which was rather disappointing. After that we had to go to a nearby town to go to the beach. Cinque Terre and Genoa were within easy reach by train from Rapallo.

Really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Riviera. The morning buffet was delicious and this was very centrally located on the beachfront with a beautiful view of The Med. Easy access to train station (10 minute walk) even with large suitcases and easy access to buses for the 20-30 minute bus ride to Portofino. Stayed in the 2 bedroom family suite which easily accommodated two parents and two teenage girls in comfort. Balcony was charming to watch the afternoon go buy. Its a charming hotel from a bygone era. Well maintained. Concierge and hotel staff were very friendly and efficient and gave very good restaurant recommendations. Only negative is to expect some street noise, if you are 1st, 2nd or 3rd floor facing the beach as hotel is opposite main town thoroughfare. It didnt bother us in the slightest and added to the charm to be opposite the beach.

Loved, loved, loved this hotel. To be able to open the shutters and look across the end of the promenade to the sparkling waters in the bay was just magical. The amenities and the friendly family style service added to the experience to make it a dream stay. The little alleys filled with shops and restaurants are right on the doorstep, as are the ferries and other services that make it an incredibly convenient and easy town to explore the Italian Riviera and even Cinque Terre. A walk along the promenade after dinner is the perfect way to end a day. I had read a lot of reviews that said Rapallo was a disappointing location, so I was nervous about having made a bad call for this stop on our tour of Italy - but I have to presume that those reviewers didn't stay at this hotel because we found it a beautiful spot and very hard to leave. I really hope to return some day.
