The hotel location is very nice and convenient to walk to many places in Messina center such as the cathedral, etc. The architecture is really nice with high ceilings and big windows in the room. The room was clean. However, the flooring was laminate and peeling in some places. It needs refreshed. The breeakfast was really terrible. Some of the staff members don't know how to make cappuccino and this is in Italy! A bit surprising. I resorted to having an espresso after attemtping twice to get a decent cappuccino. Hope the hotel updates the interiors. Price was good though. The hotel offered us free private parking in front of the hotel.

Stayed at this hotel one night, we booked on bookings.com to pay at hotel but the guy had already taken payment before we arrived. The guy at front desk very rude and arrogant. Rooms were spacious and clean but they turned off aircon in the middle of the night so rooms were hot ,so you need to open windows and it became very noisy so you didn’t get much sleep. Breakfast was not great but what really turned us off was the arrogance of the young man at front desk , would not stay there again.

This Hotel is good value, the staff try to make you feel comfortable, They are friendly and hospitable. I jave nothing but praise for the staff and the hotel. It is equidistant from the shopping centre, the old town centre and the railway station. There are good restaurants nearby.

The hotel is closely situated to the center and the morning staff is great - I stayed for a week and the breakfast got better for each morning. The night staff however were not so good, they would smoke in the doorway and leave the whole hotel full of the smell of cigarette. It was a clean hotel and free mini bar- however the cleaning staff did not always clean well or fill up the minibar every time. That said- you complain and they would be happy to serve you.very big rooms- perfect for families or couples.tip: bring your own shampoo

When we opened the door to our room we were positively surprised. The rooms are very spacious, very clean and smelled fresh. The air conditioning unit was superb as it was very hot. The bathroom was also spacious. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming. When we checked out we hadn't left ourselves enough for breakfast and the receptionist felt bad we couldn't stay so he ran into the breakfast and wrapped up some croissants to take with us!!! What fantastic service!! Great location for the train station and town.

Messina is a funny old place, it's basically somewhere you pass through to get a boat. But st elia was a lovely hotel and a real haven for the one night we were there. Friendly and unfussy staff, and a great location for the port and the main square, plus felt very safe.

We were on a round trip in Sicily and prebooked the hotel for one night. The room was big, with nice bathroom, airconditioning. The service was friendly, the breakfast exceeded my expectations. It is close to the city center. It has its own parking place on the street.

My husband and I attended a concert and we booked this hotel. This is NOT a 3 star hotel! No toilet paper, no hair dryer, no air conditioning and the room smells as if a smoker had ben there before. Terrible experience can't wait to leave.
