Good location close to the centre, easy to park and quiet. Room was clean and bathroom good. AC didn’t work and no drinking water in the room. Breakfast was average and typical of Portugal. Staff at reception weren’t friendly.

Stayed 2 nights. Room spotless with adequate space. Breakfast was extra as was underground parking. Really friendly bar staff and wasn't expensive. The restaurant was being refurbished so ate in the town which would take around 10 mins. Averio is a little Venice and we went on the gondolas, for 45 mins was 15 euros each but worth it. We didn't book the trip in advance but you can do. Would definitely recommend the hotel and the area of Averio

It was located almost in the city centre. You can walk in 10-15 minutes to the heart of the city. There are free parking spaces in front of the hotel. If you can not find then there is private parking for 7 euros/day. Rooms are great. Bed was comfortable. Wifi was very good. Bathroom and shower are nice. Staff was helpful.

The room was great, clean, renovated and spacious. The bathroom was nice too, however, one minor thing we noticed was that the bathroom door was hard to open (sliding glass door). The breakfast was not worth the 7€ per person, save some money and go to a pastelaria.

I don't know why this hotel has low ratings; perhaps because there is some ongoing refurbishment? (I saw an apologetic sign but never was inconvenienced). For me this is an excellent deal; a well run and friendly hotel in easy walking distance from where I want to be, yet in a quiet neighbourhood with free parking in the street, all at a very good price.

I stayed just one night in Hotel Afonso V, and the experience was a flashback to the 1990s. And while I treasure cherished memories from that era, my stay at the hotel was one to forget. The check-in was one of the oddest that I have ever seen in a hotel. The staff requested and retained my ID card (I guess as a warranty of getting the room card back). While I may understand that the replacement of a card for an independent hotel is costly, the impression is not the best. It's cheap, and far from what a three-star hotel should be. The room was clean, but it showed evident signs of aging here and there. The quality of the bedding was poor and not up to the standards the hotel claims to be. The bathroom was clean, but a broken shower head spilled water out of the tub/shower. Also, the towels were stiff, scratchy and not very absorbent, far from the top-quality Portuguese towels are famous for. The breakfast service was not spectacular, and while the self-service menu was OK, I felt the staff a bit robotic, with a basic interaction with the customers, and while they were polite and courteous, it lacked a personal touch. There is nothing memorable about Hotel Afonso V. It is just an old hotel that seems to have seen better days. Personally, it did not give me any reasons to stay there again.

This 3-star hotel has been recently remodeled. It is average and comfortable. The many photos shown on past reviews of rooms with wooden furniture and old-world style is not what we experienced at all. It is newly remodeled with grey plastic carpet and grey wall art. Modern yet ordinary. Missing were some of the details that could have made it more comfortable.- A bottle of free tap water with real glasses, extra pillows in the closet, an iron. On the bright side, the desk attendant was really friendly and kind, the location is just a walk away from many shops and restaurants, and the price was ok. This is not a place you will likely remember but it was cheap and adequate.

We stayed here 1 night in July. This 3 star hotel is ok - rooms are clean and spacious enough for 2. Bathroom is clean. Bit 90s style. Part of the hotel is empty - renovation? The hotel is some 500 m / 10 minutes outside the historic city center.

Part of the hotel was under renovation when I stayed there in late april '19. The part that was open appeared to be in the midst of an upgrade / style transition. Reception area full of big, classical furniture, breakfast area already upgraded tot sleek modern tiling and furniture. Rooms were okay, location is outside the city centre but walkable. Breakfast was ok, not bad not great.

Aveiro is not a big city, although not in the city centre, hotel is really close to it. The breakfast was decent, nothing less, nothing more. The bed was really comfortable. Internet connection in the room was surprisingly good. Overall excellent value for money.
