Vila Gale Cascais is often celebrated for its enviable location close to the marina and offers stunning coastal views, as many travelers have mentioned. While the spaciousness and cleanliness of the rooms are consistently applauded, several guests feel they could benefit from modernization. The hotel's value is acknowledged, especially for its scenic sea views and bar offerings, despite some concerns over additional costs. Family-friendly amenities and a pristine pool area add to the appeal, but updates are suggested. Service at the hotel is generally recognized as friendly and attentive, although improvements in reception responsiveness have been noted. The traditional charm and engaging local festivals contribute to a lively and enjoyable atmosphere.

A lovely weeks stay. The rooms were clean and large. Ours had a lovely sea view. The breakfast was excellent. I require a gluten free diet and every morning I had a lovely selection of pastries, bread and cereal - there was even lactose free milk in the basket. We had 1 buffet evening meal and a few nights in the a la carte restaurant. The Gluten free options were limited but what I had was very tasty. My only complaint is that the hotel doesn't display important information like - what time meals are- how to ask for your room to be serviced- information about the spa and prices. The pool is outdoor and not suitable for Winter visits.

Vila Gale Cascais is located just across the street from the Cascais Marina, which is a lovely little boat harbor with good restaurants on-site. We had a corner one-bedroom suite with wraparound balcony giving us good views of the Marina, the lighthouse, and the sea. The room was very comfortable and had a mini kitchen. The hotel offers a buffet breakfast that is very good and costs 11 euros per person if it's not included in your room rate. We ate there every morning because we thought it was a good deal. The Boca do Inferno is just a short walk from the hotel. If you have a car available there are several good trips you can take from Cascais, including a day trip to Sintra (20 minutes away) and all the sights to see there. You might consider getting there other than by car, however, because the parking is tight, even in the off-season. Other than Sintra, you can travel by car to Cabo da Roca and other sights on the Atlantic coast. The only negative thing about the hotel was that the kitchen did not include a coffee maker or microwave or (less important) a dishwasher. I found no other fault with the resort, except the pool is not heated and it was too cold to use it in January. A fabulous restaurant in Cascais is Furnas do Guincho, a six-minute drive from the hotel with ample free parking.

Not what I would expect in a 4 star hotel- lack of pillows, adapters, absolutely no toiletries, strange room decore (Thai theme in Portugal?!), no bathrobes or slippers to use, food just ok but staff are kind and rooms are a good size with balconies.

Vila Gale did not disappoint. It is centrally located to the town and plenty of wonderful restaurants. Cute town to walk around. Close to train station-20 minutes to Lisbon on the train. Uber is everywhere. No need to have a car for the town. We took the train to Porto. great experience.

If location was the most determining factor in the quality of a hotel, the Hotel Vila Galé de Cascais was one of the best. Facing the Atlantic Ocean and next to the Cascais marina, this hotel has a truly dream location. The rooms are comfortable, spacious and the service is friendly. The worst thing is the restaurant. The food is not of sufficient quality to be served in this type of hotel. The food is really of poor quality. Improving the quality of the restaurant is imperative.

We spent 9 nights in mid September in the very enjoyable Cascais Vila Gale hotel. We didn’t get off to a great start however. We arrived late just before 11 at night to be told we were expecting you tomorrow night! Then to be told our room wasn’t available for 6 days. We had reserved an accessible room which has a specially adapted bathroom . We had email correspondence from the hotel showing the booking of this room. Turns out it was already reserved for another customer for months and when I went to book it it was not available, but I wasn’t told that. The hotel has only 1 of these rooms. So now we had an example of very helpful hotel receptionists (Michael and his colleague Sofia) dealing with a situation there and then rather than complaining about a problem on my return home. I couldn’t ask for better from these 2 staff members. They had a real can do attitude and with a smile they suggested upgrading my room to a larger sea view room and ensuring I had a good quality shower seat in the ‘almost’ walk in shower. They also gave us a two hour extension in the room on departure, without charge despite being fully booked out. While it wasn’t perfect I managed well . We were asked a number of times during the stay how we were getting on and how was the room. They had given me the option of the accessible room for the last 3 nights but we were content to stay put by that stage. The large bedroom was very nice , lovely views, a nice balcony and a very comfortable bed. If there was a negative it was the small charge for the in room safe. Bathroom was a decent size . Cleaning staff were very pleasant and did a great job. On 2 afternoons we happened to be reading on the sunny 😎 balcony when they came to clean and they spent at least 20 minutes doing that. Breakfast was plentiful in the downstairs dining room and done on a buffet style. It did the job, we especially liked the fresh breads and the small white rolls, pastries, fresh fruit, milky coffee. Pity the toaster was so slow. They had a chef who would cook your eggs as you liked them. They had a busy outside bar and food service. We ate there twice and the food was good quality and very reasonable. There were always sun beds available and the swimming pool was popular but never overly busy so that you could have a comfortable swim. I was unable to use it due to my mobility but I was able to get into and out of the very large jacuzzi where I could swim a few strokes from side to side. The hotel is well located beside a busy walkway and cycle track. I liked the fact that it’s not down town and was a 20 minute walk from the centre (12 to 15mins) for everyone else! The cobbled pavements were a challenge for me personally and coupled with the hilly terrain in town, I used 2 crutches to walk everywhere rather than just one. We used Ubers to get around (4-5 euro for most journeys) when not walking and there was plenty to do and visit in the area. We had a lovely stay and would have no problem returning to this hotel.

During our stay at this hotel, we faced a distressing incident when our child was involved in an accident using their small pool due to clear unsafe conditions (also noticed by other parents). What really upset us was how the hotel handled the situation. Initially, they assured us that their insurance would cover the incident (trip to the hospital, analysis, wheelchair as she couldn’t walk for 2 weeks). However, when the insurance company refused to honor this commitment, the hotel simply stopped communicating with us. Horrendous experience Do not stay there!
