The price was fair, and the location was pretty nice - nearby to the city center. The room was not well maintained: the bidet was cracked, the bathtub was a bit clogged, taking long time to drain. The room furniture was burnt in some spots and there were stains in the carpet. There was a side chair which also was full of stains.

A great hotel with really large rooms and overall fantastic value for money. The location was brilliant and so close to the lovely town with such amazing streets. The staff were exceptionally helpful in so many ways. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Check in start at 14.00 o’clock but people at reception was very nice and kept our stuff safe. When we went into the room (212)it was almost boiling because of the heating system. The bed is comfortable but the carpet was stained with brown stains that looked disgusting. The bathroom ceiling has a lot of mould stains and some dead insects sticked on it. We forgot our toothpaste and ask reception for it. The girl (very nice) gave us a dental kit that cost 1.5€ and it doesn’t even have a proper toothpaste bottle. It didn’t taste nice :(. We didn’t try the restaurant. Let’s see how the night goes!!

Stayed here for 2 nights in early November. Hotel was well situated. About a 25 minute stroll from the bus station and 10 minute walk to the centre. Our room was at the front of the hotel and did suffer from early morning traffic noise. Breakfast had a poor selection. Squeeze your own orange juice was strange. Cold coffee poor signage. No bread for toast. No fault of the staff who were very helpful and friendly in all parts of the hotel. Check in and out was very easy and straightforward.

Gorgeous interior. The outside doesn’t do the inside justice. Very clean, modern. Was confused when we first walked in, but you go into the elevator to the 1st floor, to reception to check in. (You enter on “0”) Very nice staff at check in, and again at check out. Our room was on the third floor facing the back of the building. (315) Beautiful view! You can see a church at the top of the hill with a gondola ride going up. You need to put your key card in a slot to put the power onto the room. The fridge never really got very cold, that was a bit disappointing, and we could not find any ice for our drinks. Bed - very comfortable! The most comfortable bed of ANY hotel we have EVER stayed at. Nice white sheets! Washroom - very nice, clean Up the road is a little grocery store with really good prices. Fruit, cheese, meat, anything you need really. It’s little but they seemed to have everything we wanted. Back of hotel - noisy dog all night long, even with the windows closed. I had to turn the tv on to drown out the noise of the barking. Gorgeous view from our room. Parking is a bit chaotic. And behind the hotel below is very busy with cars in and out. Parking - I would recommend parking in the basement. 8 euros a night but worth it, out back seemed a little sketchy. If you have mobility issues though, this may not be a good idea. There’s no elevator inside the basement, so you have to walk out and up a very steep driveway back to the front of the hotel.

Good hotel for a short business stay. Good staff and good evironment. Although breackfast is not free and that makes the price of the room not so atractive compared to another hotels in the region nearby.

Guimaraes the old capital of Portugal. Staying at the "Stay Hotel" in the main part of town, which was only about 10 minutes’ walk to the historic area. I anticipated something like an Ibis type hotel but was very pleasantly surprised with the large size of the bedroom and equally large size of the bathroom. Very clean, helpful and friendly staff, windows that open, comfortable bed, bar and breakfast on the reception floor. No worries!

Stayed here for just one night. The hotel is what you might expect from a good quality budget hotel. Small room, very comfortable bed, clean room and hotel, and little more than a five minute walk to the historic town centre (Very nice), or ten minutes to the castle. For me there was a few things which let the hotel down; - Broken shower rail which meant having to hold the shower, but staff said they was unaware of and would fix. - Breakfast was a bit basic, but I was made aware when checking in it was a Portuguese breakfast so might not have the range of choice I might expect. They wasn't wrong, it was a bit basic, but anywhere which serves pasteis de nata for breakfast cant be all bad. It's ok if you haven't much time in the morning but you could probably get better in the town for the equivalent price. - Service, very slow check in and later in the evening at the bar, as they only seem to employ one person in the afternoon and evening. This was probably due to the high number of guests when I was there (Thursday evening when the Portugal v Netherlands football match was being played so the hotel was full, but having realised how busy it was going to be they might have had the foresight to have more than one person working?) Would stay again as it offered very good value for money, and a comfortable bed.

We were originally booked for 2 nights but extended this to 6 nights as we were enjoying guimaraes and the hotel so much We stayed in a suite. This comprised a large bedroom with two arm chairs, a large double bed, table and chair and also a fridge and kettle. Paper cups are provided and no coffee, we bought mugs and coffee/ milk from a supermarket. In addition, there is a small dressing room/potential single bedroom, a bathroom ( a bath with shower above) and a separate loo. Car parking is 8 euro/ 24 hours and under the hotel. The reception staff and cleaners were all friendly and helpful. The hotel is a short walk into the centre of town. There is a pingu doce supermarket opposite and a cycling/ walking track close to the hotel ( accessed from the roundabout up the hill from the hotel) which was perfect for daily runs.

Stayed for one night at Stay Hotel Guimarães. The room is well decorated and the bed really comfortable. Internet was a bit slow. Bathroom was spacious. Breakfast is simple, tasty but nothing to write about. Lots of stores in the neighborhood Would stay again
