We've been to the Zi Martino on four occasions now over the past 15 years. It has always been a pleasure to see the wonderful staff (consistent year after year). The food is fantastic and the accommodations are comfortable. We cycle and they have great bike storage facilities. We will be back!

My wife and I stayed at the Zi' Martino for the first week of July. It is a lovely hotel at the bottom of the hill just below the the town of Castagneto. Fausto, the owner, had been very helpful via email when planning the trip as we were to cycle in the local area, and continued to be helpful during our stay. Fausto had arranged bike rental through a local shop and the high quality bikes were waiting for us in reception on our arrival! The hotel is geared-up for cyclists with a secure garage and recommendations for routes too. The hotel itself is spacious, modern & clean, the rooms too are big and comfortable - our bathroom appeared to be brand new.
The hotel was quiet during our stay so we often had their lovely pool, in an olive grove behind the hotel, to ourselves - very nice indeed! The restaurant is good too and the staff were all lovely especially as our Italian is effectively non-existent! A great little find! ideal if your visiting the wine region, cycling the local hills or visiting the coast.

Room Tip: I think most of the rooms would be good but a view over the garden at the back would be the best.

Just spent a week cycling in the area and Zi Martino was home base at the bottom of the hill. There was nothing more comforting than coming back down to a warm welcome, clean room, cool pool, and down home cooking. The family and their staff were as bright and warm as the Tuscan sun.

We stayed at Zi Martino for a few days recently. It was the most expensive and dirtiest hotel we have stayed at in Italy. The room was very small, which was unexpected given that we were paying upwards of €160 a night. The room was dirty and the bed was very uncomfortable. Breakfast was even worse - the same mouldy fruit was brought out each morning.

Wifi was not included in the price either.

The one good thing was the pool, which was big enough to splash about it.

We went to another Tuscan hotel afterwards, which was much prettier, lovely room and great restaurant/pool - and it cost far less!

Zi Martino looks and behaves like a really bad US motel.

We stayed here with a cycling tour. The positives: staff were all friendly, helpful and hard working! We loved the food/wine each night at dinner and the morning coffee and breakfast. Internet in the rooms worked great. Except for all the mosquitoes-the pool and patio was nice. Housekeeping changed towels daily and kept the room stocked.
But a hotel experience is all the things and the 2 stars are because the room was very dark…decor and furniture are very outdated. The mattress was very hard/uncomfortable and the pillows were so flat that we left with back aches. It was super hot and the air conditioning barely worked. The wall/hose hairdryer was a joke-hard to use and apparently someone pulled the hose too hard at some point so it would just randomly come unattached while using. The shower was so tiny it didn’t have a full size door. Also there were so so many flies at every meal outside-just invest in some fans or table fly spinners.

I made several attempts to book a room with my AMEX. The merchant insisted on a bank transfer. I never received confirmation for a stay. Upon arrival in Tuscany I stopped by the hotel in inquire if there was availability. They said yes and gave me a key, no documentation whatsoever. This is a "Bicycle Hotel" and I asked to see the bicycle room. There were no bicycles or helmets in the "bicycle room," it was a dump. I returned to the front desk and asked the attendant if they had any helmets. He replied "no." I returned the key to him and advised "I can't stay here." My "visit" lasted 3 minutes but now they want to charge my AMEX.

I stayed in Zi Martino for a weekend and it was absolutely a great visit.
The rooms are cosy and well decorated, the staff is very friendly and welcoming. The pool area is amazing surrounded by olive trees.
One remark is the missing wifi connection in the rooms as it is now only available around the entrance.

For this category it's a very nice place to stay. Rooms are clean and big enough. Great pool where to swim and relax. The staff and the owner are very nice and welcoming people.

The restaurant is also very good with Italian and regional specialties and the wine card is just amazing. Don't hesitate to stop by.

Was good to stay so good that I'm going back very soon.

Spent a week here as part of a Cinghiale Cycling tour. The staff of this place are the very best - they put in incredible hours for us and kept everything perfect. I will agree that the place has the worst WiFi I have ever seen and think Fausto should spring for a better system, but hey - you're on vacation...

"Ask for a "light" room with patio door access to gardens. We originally had room 300 which was quite dark, but we were moved to room 100 which was bigger and a lot sunnier."
