The wifi is a bit fiddly though, which was a problem for me. I was able to connect with my phone easily, but my laptop wouldn't connect. The staff was ready to give up and just say, "Sorry, it doesn't work," but I told them I'd have to change hotels if we couldn't get it working. I only mention this because other reviews mentioned they had unsolvable wifi problems, so if you are unable to connect, here's what I think they did: After much fidgeting and trying different things, they rebooted the router on my floor and giving me a new ID (or something like that). After that, my computer was able to connect, and it continued to work for the four days I stayed there. Basically, ask them to turn the router off and on again.
The neighborhood has a bunch of restaurants and food stalls about a block to the south, but there are no English menus and very little English is spoken. In some cases, pointing and gesturing is enough ("I want to eat that pork on a stick"), but for places with bigger menus, I couldn't find a way to order food. But if you walk ten minutes south, there are a lot of good food stalls that are just north the old town moat. There are no English signs, but a lot of them have menus in English and most of the vendors seem to speak some English, so it wasn't too much of a challenge to order food. And it's all better and about one third the price of what you'll pay at the tourist places inside the old town.
All in all, the little bit of extra effort needed to get to Pattara Place is greatly outweighed by the benefits.
This is a apartment for daily rental, so they do not have a restaurant there but it's easily to find a place to eat around, so many food stall in that area and convenience store. Recommend ++
We decided to move out 3 weeks earlier due to the constant noise from next door but they refused to give even half the monthly rent back and were told that we had to keep the room and collect the deposit at the end of the month. At the end of the month we went to our room to collect our last belongings only to find someone asleep in our bed and they had been using our room even though we had still being paying for it!
The rent for the last month came to nearly 900 baht (we stayed for just 11 of those days with everything switched off after that) .. previous months were less than that for the full month.
They also tried to keep as much of the deposit money as they could. 500 for paint... nothing needed painting. We got 7500 back from a 10,000 deposit after all their silly and scammy charges.
I had previously recommended this place to a few of my friends that visit Thailand often, but now I have warned them of my experience.
Be warned, if you stay here and leave your room for a few days you might find someone sleeping in your bed when you get back, along with your stuff gone!
Hotel workers are very nice and they could help us all the time with rent a car, taxis, recommendation.....
We found the hotel in internet! It was very cheap!!!
Far??? Only a little bit! Not to much! You can go to the downtown in 5 min with car or taxi! Very quiet!
You could find great local restaurants and very cheap next to the hotel!!
I recommend this hotel definitely!!
However, the wi-fi system was broken on the second day and no one really fixed it. The staff tried to help for a while but in the end they just said "well, it's broken" and did not give apology or offer any compensation. (They are average reception staff, not much service-minded but friendly alright) The room-cleaning staff were very efficient, though. They even refilled the water in the kettle and cleaned the dishes for me.
The location of the hotel is a bit far from the center, but closer to the airport. There were food selling around the little road in that area, and the little food place a bit opposite to the apartment sells delicious simple Thai dishes at very cheap price. (Actually, if you order room service, they take the food from here, but charge more than twice the price.)
In future, I would book into a real hotel in the moated old town which I discovered were the same price (or less) than Pattara Place.
