We stayed at Mercure Chiang Mai during Christmas week. The hotel is a bit outdated, but it didn't bother us since the room is clean (except under the bed which was too dusty. We saw it on our last night, so we didn't ask for it to be cleaned anymore.) Breakfast was good and was inexpensive (B150/person). The hotel also provided free shuttle service to weekend market/night market. The staff were all very friendly, but one of them stood out - Ms Kanlaya Manokiang. She helped us book our tours, called the tour agency for us and answered all our questions and was just so accommodating. She always had a smile on her face and always greeted us every time she saw us pass by the reception area. Thank you, Ms Kanlaya, for being so kind to us! We loved our holiday in Chiang Mai and are truly glad we stayed at Mercure.

The Mercure Chiang Mai stands as a testament to time, offering a budget-friendly stay amidst an aging yet sizable space. Its value for the price paid per night is commendable, though managing expectations is crucial. The rooms boast ample space and cozy bedding but suffer from an outdated design and moderate cleanliness issues—ants being a concern. However, the redeeming factor lies in the exceptional staff, whose warmth and service overshadow shortcomings. Ideal for groups seeking affordability and a well-located spot, this hotel makes a sensible choice despite its imperfections. perfections and did I forget to mention the breakfast selection is great and delicious.

The staff at the Mercure are its major asset. The Hotel itself is dated but adequate. Bit of a trip into the city centre. But plenty of cheap transport. I don't pay for the breakfast buffet, last time I tried it, it was terrible. I highly recommend the breakfast buffet in The Mercure Bangkok, fabulous. One odd problem in the Chiang Mai Mercure is the mosquitoes.

I received a type 2 diabetes diagnosis the day before flying out, so I was under a lot stress and I had no idea how I was going to manage my diet when travelling (especially given my love for Thai street food, which is full of added sugar from what I've googled). My doctor's only advice was to "Use your best judgement". There were a couple of things on the restaurant menu that looked safe to me, and there were a lot of things at breakfast, but the biggest thing for me was that the hotel is conveniently located next to a big Tops supermarket and a Salad Terrace restaurant. The place is certainly a little rundown, but all the staff there make up for it in genuine sincerity. They don't always succeed in helping though, but they always gave it a good crack (which goes a long way in my book). There were a few instances where I was probably being difficult with the front desk when I was having trouble with the tours I've booked throughout my stay, and I guess my frustrations had got the better of me at times. I deeply apologise again ladies. Location wise, it was maybe a touch far from all the action, but it allowed me to put in the extra hour or two of exercise the doctor prescribed. It is also right next to the Chiang Mai Boxing Stadium and Miracle Cabaret. I didn't have time to see the Cabaret, but the Mauy Thai is certainly worth a visit. Thankyou Mercure Chiang Mai. You can be sure I'll be back soon.

The biggest bed I’ve slept in. Room was large, breakfast had many selections, the nicest staff of any Accor hotel I’ve stayed in. Yes the hotel is old, but I thoroughly enjoyed my 4 night stay. There is a supermarket called ‘Tops’ right next to the hotel, a great salad bar nearby and coffee shops closeby. I walked to Maya shopping centre, took about 30 mins but taxis readily available to get around. Also, very reasonable rates for a Mercure hotel. A shout out to the friendly staff where nothing was a problem. I will definately stay again, thank you for making my stay so comfortable.

Aged. It's comfortable and not bad but it's time for an overhaul and renewal in all aspects to bring it to the 21st century. Rooms are old-style large but not modern; sockets are insufficient and not well positioned. Bathroom is outdated. The hotel seems to be big on functions, thus there is a constant stream of people. The design is strange -- low rise and very long, making for walking huge distances just to get to your room. Staff are very friendly. Problem-solving is quick. Breakfast is poor and Thai-style insipid. There is a swimming pool but it's outdated. Air-conditioning is very strong. Location is poor -- in a very local area with nothing, but not far from places you want to go to. Accommodation: 3/5 Staff service: 5/5 Breakfast: 2/5 Location: 2/5

The overall our stay was good. The hotel is outdated but it didn’t bother us. The staff were nice and helpful. The room was very spacious and clean. The shower did not work well. It was too hot or too cold. The fridge was a bit noisy. The location was good. It was a pleasant stay. We would recommend for this hotel!!

We have been always going back to Mercure Chiang Mai every time we are in CM. It's an old hotel but well kept. The rooms are spacious, clean and most of all the toilets & showers are clean and no smell. It's close to food market and a small shopping arcade at the back. Close the ancient city but yet away from the crowds. We had the breakfast this time and it was as good as can be.

We have stayed many times at this hotel over the past 10 years except between 2021-22 however, we were there in April 23 and were surprised how good the hotel was after Covid. They were able to keep a lot of the staff we know from previous years which is a credit to the management team. We enjoy the service the hotel has and the old world charm that we like, big lobby/lounge and the rooms .beds are big, very clean. We enjoyed the hotel restaurant for breakfast and dinner with a good selection that suited us. The lawn area is nice for sitting outside the dining area. The only down side was the air quality due to fires on the border with Myanmar(Burma) .The location of the hotel is very central to the main shopping centres by mini bus (tut tut) we would pay 20 Baht each per trip. It is a short 10-15 min walk to the old city walls.
