The Grand Hotel d'Abidjan is a charming family-owned hotel boasting 80 rooms, a restaurant and bar, a private garden-terrace, a bar-lounge with a panoramic view of the city, meeting rooms as well as a yoga studio. Currently the oldest standing hotel in Abidjan, the Grand Hotel initially opened in 1956 and has been entirely refurbished to great standards in 2014. It is ideally located in the heart of the city, Le Plateau, which is the business district of Abidjan. The majority of the rooms have a splendid view of the Ebrie laguna, while a few others give onto the quiet garden patio. The hotel's staff is friendly, professional and will look after your every need. The Grand Hotel d'Abidjan looks forward to welcoming you as an honored guest.

Basic hotel where the rooms are simple and refurbished a few year ago. The decor of the hallways and stairs is in need of attention but, hey, you don’t sleep there. The entrance is now tucked away down a tatty alley so take the photos of the Art Deco building with a pinch of salt. Simple breakfast was nothing special but ok. I didn’t fancy any of the hot offerings and there was no toaster but the croissants were good as was the coffee and juice. Free shuttle from the airport was an unexpected bonus. It works on a scheduled basis so won’t work for all (the return didn’t by the front desk was helpful in making sure I wasn’t ripped off with a taxi to Grand Bassam). WiFi fully functional and an ask for a higher fee than I had booked at on Booking.com was sorted with no complaint or hassle (or apology!).

The Grand Hotel in Abidjan has nice accommodations and amenities for a pleasant stay. We were at the Hotel for two weeks and found it very comfortable. Many of the staff or multilingual and all are friendly and cater to your needs. The restaurant is good not great but good and offers Ivorian, French, and some American cuisine. The location of the hotel is ideally located on the plateau and central to many of the best known tourist sites. The neighborhood offers some stores, an outdoor market and despite its appearance provides a safe environment. We plan to stay here again next time we are in Abidjan.

I stayed one night here on business when visiting Abidjan. The hotel is nothing fancy but clean and well appointed. Rooms were pleasantly large and free WiFi was fast. Breakfast also was quite nice. Definitely recommend this place if you have business nearby.

This Hotel is located on perfect location of Plateau which is one of the best. The experience of sea view from Balcony is amazing. Breakfast is ok and restaurant has limited menus. Service can be improved as after calling reception there was delay in response. Overall you can stay here for a day to get mesmerized in the beauty of sea view.

If you are in Abidjan, do try this hotel. Built in 1956, they have made no fancy revocation. It oversees the river, if you select the right room. Go for second floor rooms 214 215 216 or insist on the room facing the river. Very well maintained rooms. Excellent linen and towels. If you know French then you are comfortable to communicate. However, they have English speaking staff also. I always stay in this premises. Breakfast is not extravagant but serves all basics you need to have. Would not recommend food, as I have found it not up to the mark and with very little selection. Priced very reasonable and you get a good service. Don't get shocked to see the hotel from outside but I am sure, once you end up in the room, you will not regret. The staff is very courteous and always ready to help. Highly recommended for business as well as families. I believe they don't have a pool or gym. You need to check before you decide. Located in the central business district of Abidjan. Airport pick and drop is complimantory.

Having read some negative comments on this site we nearly decided not to stay. That would have been a massive mistake. Fisrtly the location is perfect if you are in town on business. The rooms have been recently renovated beautiful Italian beds, fully functional and spotless. We had two rooms both perfect.Breakfast was more than adequate and the staff extremely helpful and attentive even though two of us spoke no French. The owner Eric went out of his way to ensure everything went well.We were so impressed we have booked our return stay. Two minutes walk down the road there is a great Bistro and sports bar

I had the misfortune to stay in the Grand Hotel again for a recent conference, I can honestly say the staff and hotel have got even worse if that were possible. After a long journey I was greeted in my room by a couple of cockroaches scurrying around, although I must say there were more friendly that the front desk staff when I checked in, who were almost zombie like, no smiles or greetings offered. The same old dour waiters and waitresses are still employed, gladly ignoring all the guests and scowling at requests made. Where the owners have recruited them from I cannot imagine, perhaps the local asylum? I personally witnessed the staff becoming hostile with a guest when he complained over the poor quality of food presented to him. I ate breakfast the first morning, then didn't bother again, the incompetent chefs haven't improved, the fried eggs I ordered were delivered to the table almost raw and swimming in oil, completely inedible unless you want salmonella poisoning, it's almost impossible to get any of the staffs attention, this despite there being more staff than guests the majority of the time, during my stay the water went off for 2 days, one wonders how the catering staff were washing their hands prior to food preparation. The hotel emits a sombre almost morgue like a atmosphere, you get the feeling the other guests are also counting down the days until they can leave. A special mention must go out to the tall man who is usually found lounging behind the bar, on a scale of imbeciles he is an 11. From check-in to check-out a testament to complete incompetence.

I came back recently at Grand Hotel. I recognized easily the place where I had spent long weeks 35 years ago. Same white round building with its architecture of the 50s. Same stunning view of the lagoon and De Gaulle bridge. Same mess outside the hotel in the busy Plateau district. Of course it was renovated. It's now much more welcoming and convenient. But it has lost its outdated charm. Youthful days ...

Good service and food, rooms are large and with a fridge. Isolated and quite and in a good location os the Plateau. Internet is excellent!!! Would be nice if coffee/tea/hot water was offered in the room but in general, recommended!

Stayed there 2 nights for a meeting. Pick up at the airport was perfect and super friendly. Check-in was a disaster, no room available for a few hours... rooms are nice and modern. Very clean. Super view from my room (408) on the lagune. Room service staff super rude and super slow. Breakfast staff so rude I did not go the second day. Airport drop off with a driver who obviously didn't have a driving licence... all in all, not worth the high price
