We did an extended stay here while waiting for our new home to be move in ready. It was quite a pleasant experience. The ambiance is quiet with a touch of warm and friendly. The staff was very accommodating to our needs. The rooms were larger than the competition for less. The hotel regularly caters to a number of business groups including University, Police and other groups. They also do an excellent job for families and tourist as well. It is a solid 3 Star hotel in the Chinese Star system. Beds are comfortable, rooms include desk, chairs, and drawers. There is a safe downstairs for valuables if needed. Dining: The hotel has two restaurants in the building--one is from Xiangjiang the other local Shanghainese. Both excellent in quality but a bit pricey. However you are a stone's throw away from some great local restaurants within a block or two blocks by walking. A 24 hour KFC is 1 1/2 blocks away. And if you savor the flavor of Western Cuisine the Subway is a block way and you can connect with line 10 from 8 and be 2 stops from Xintiandi. For breakfast I would recommend some of the local buns and breads. You can find them just 2 blocks away (turn right after you get out of the hotel and go either left at the light or right and you will find yourself near traditional streets with great food). Business: The internet is great here and they do have business suites if you need to have meetings in your room. But they don't have a conference room available. TV: Rooms have a DTV system with a nice decent sized LED flat screen. You and watch western and Chinese moves till you are board. Maybe not the latest, but a lot of classic and decent flicks. Just learn the Chinese Character for English, America and you will do okay. Heating: It is always nice to have a warm room in Shanghai in the winter. There is no thermostat, but there is a heat/air conditioner switch with fan control and it did an okay job keeping our room warm in the sub zero temps (C) you get here in winter. The only drawback I see, is if you don't at least speak guidebook Mandarin you might have a problem communicating with the staff. They will work with you and you should be able to get along--no need to be a Chinese scholar. Just might be some frustration if you are not comfortable with at least rudimentary Chinese..
