Limited menu for Mother’s day no vegetarian or vegan option offered on menu at all For starter they said they could take the cheddar out of the potato, leek and cheddar soup so agreed to have it Waitress served it saying it was a soup without cheese after 2 spoonful found a lump of cheese They had lied to me Must have thought I did not matter and would just be fooled For main we agreed just vegetables No potatoes of any description served no explanation a thimble full of tasteless vegan gravy carrots broccoli cauliflower only For pudding had fresh fruit salad supposedly consisted of melon and 2 small pieces of apple a joke

We were recommended by friends to visit here and didn’t disappoint! We decided to pop in for a lunch. Good selection of wines and beers at a fantastic price, The Fish n Chips 10/10 especially the triple cooked chips, service was very attentive and all the staff were happy and a natural approach to making us and everyone around us feel welcome. We have booked for Sunday lunch in a couple of weeks and looking forward to it.

Lunch today, hard chips, either not been cooked fresh or over cooked and stale, possibly several times but remained hard not edible. We asked to speak to the manager, the chef came out, angry and heightened raising his voice at a high pitch. Stating that the potatoes are locally sourced, blanched cooked yesterday then fresh today , he cooked them in the same oil as the fish and scampi. He called my friend aggressive again we asked to speak to the manager. The deputy manager Sarah Harding came out smirking, agreeing with the chef Ray Moody that the chips were cooked. I asked if they had tried them, they had not. Sarah then called my friend aggressive as the chef had said previously. She did not speak to us alone but with the chef. When neither of us had been aggressive, the chef was aggressive to the point where my friend thought he was going to hit me!! Is this the standard of customer service of an established hotel catering venue? We will be writing to the manager Roma about this poor experience and questioned if we should have spoken to the police about the chefs threatening behaviour. Needless to say we will not be recommending this hotel.

The accessible room was tired, cold and dated. The central heating wasn’t working and we had to switch on the mobile electric radiator when we went into the room. My wife is disabled and I am partially disabled, however the three young waitresses on duty for breakfast on the Saturday morning were content to watch us struggle, until an older waitress sorted them out. We were there for our granddaughter’s wedding which was very well done, but overall we would not recommend this hotel for people with disabilities. In my opinion I was also overcharged for y sty, I had booked 2 nights bandb, but was charged for 1 night bandb, plus the food we ate on Friday 3rd November. The helpful receptionist on the Sunday morning refunded this after I asked for an itemised bill, but not the fact we were on 2 nights bandb. Suggest you all check your bills here if you decide to stay in a tired accessible room.

Bathrooms had many cob webs. Staff is so young and untrained. They charged us double for drinks and to date not refunded! Very unhappy for poor customer service. Reception counter staff promised it will refunded by end of the day, understand it was bank holiday and busy but this is something everyone need to check before you pay and no matter how much the hotel is busy make sure you dont pay double coz this place dont give you refunds!!!

Response from Roma Hatton, General Manager at Santo's Higham Farm Hotel
Responded Sep 16, 2023
Thank you for your feedback 47reshmap regarding your stay here at Santo's Higham Farm Hotel. I am extremely surprised that you felt that you had poor customer service and that we charged you double for a drink. We looked through your account and at 16.06hours on Friday 25th August 2023 you ordered 2 jacket potatoes a bread board, a coffee for yourself and a pint of amstell for your partner. The food and coffee were paid separately at 17.00 hours. The amstell was charged through the bar till and straight onto you room bill which was the £4.00 that you state we charged you double? If you would like copies of the receipts we will be only to happy to provide this to you. You are correct that we have 2 new waiting on staff that are being trained. We always have a senior member of staff on with them. If you would like to discuss this matter further please do not hesitate to contact us.

Pleasant hotel in a lovely village. Overall the hotel is a little dated and really for a sprucing - but great value for money. Reception staff very helpful and friendly. Rooms nice and clean - a little dated. Booked family room and no bedding for the sofa bed - managed to improvise as could not be bothered contacting reception. Very hot at night though and ceiling fan positioned in weird place. Toilet seat not fixed properly so kept slipping to the side. Big room and served it’s purpose. Boys in the bar could do with a little customer service training or at least try and crack a smile. Breakfast decent enough.. serve yourself hot English buffet. Bacon cooked nice and mushrooms - eggs only scrambled and a little sloppy. Overall would stay again as priced accurately for current standards

Went here for afternoon tea and was not dissapointed. The sandwichs were fresh ample and tasted beautiful. The service was excellent with a constant supply of hit drinks. The hotel itself is set in beautiful surroundings and the parking ample. I had a look at some rooms and they too were well presented and clean. We will be going back this time as guests.
