The town was almost empty and the streets rather silent when we arrived on Wednesday night. We had gone out with the assumption of walking around until something catches our fancy, but we didn’t have many to choose from. The waiter was very quick to...acknowledge us and sat our group of seven at the table within a minute.
The service was rapid and the waiter was a pleasant chap in good humour. He made some recommendations for the indecisive among us, and explained some of the local specialties. We had to wait a little for our meals to arrive, but we had our aperitifs to tide us over the wait.
We all chose crepes, and I had the Indien, which was curry chicken. Initially the size of the meal worried me, as it looked small and I was ravenous after a long drive across the country. By the end of the meal however, washed down with a glass of red wine, I was well-sated. It was quite a rich meal. Among the other diners of our group, the sausage and applesauce, and the tartiflette options were favourites.
Dessert was hands down the best course; I chose the Café Gourmand which came with a little bit of everything. The profiterole was filled with ice cream instead of the traditional cream, while the caramel panna cotta was very more-ish.
The desserts were slightly on the pricey side, but if you’re just there for a main course and a wine, it’s a really affordable option with good service.More
