Looked forward to a return visit to this restaurant but very disappointed by the service and attitude. No welcome, no offer of cheese desert or coffee, no farewell. Generally surly attitude which is very disappointing when business is returning post COVID and so many businesses...have closed. Food perfectly acceptable but not amazing. And failed to check any COVID vaccination credentials.More
The menu is varied and offers typical dishes. I really enjoyed the "Clamecy andouillette", but my mouth is still watering at the remembrance of the "Creme brulée au nougat". Highly recommended !
Was ok.. steak wafer thin!!! Lamb nice Pannecota great!! A bit overpriced!!....., had better at 2 prices last nite... cotes Du Rhone wine wasn’t that good!!!.....
Whenever we can, we take our friends and family to the Angelus, the best restaurant in Clamecy. The menu is varied and always reliably excellent value for money, as well as being of a high quality. Service is friendly and timely.
The food here was delightful! There were 7 of us and every meal was delicious. The service was excellent and the decor of the restaurant was bright and colourful. I would definitely recommend finding this lovely place for lunch or dinner.
Went there for a romantic valentines day dinner and weren't disappointed. At least, not with the food. But the restaurant itself needs substantial maintenance. For the price, you expect a nicer environment. Not sure we'll go back...
We were staying in Clamecy on our canal boat and had been a few times before but not to this restaurant, It was quiet but the food was excellent ans was the service. Definitely recommended.
We ate here on the 17th August 2017, while staying at the nearby " Camping du Pont Picot, Clamecy. We had studied the reviews and menus of all the restaurants in the area, and Restaurant L'Angelus appealed to us and we made a reservation. We...chose the 38 Euro 5 course menu. The food and service was beyond our expectation and ticked every box. The restaurant was not full, with a handful of customers. We decided to eat there again on the 26th August, we did not make a reservation as it did not seem necessary on our last visit. We arrived at 1915 hrs and were met by the owner, Cyrille Girault. He asked if we had a reservation, to which we replied "No". Despite the restaurant being almost empty and having spent 116.80 euro on our previous visit, Monsieur Girault said the restaurant was full and turned us away? We got the impression that he could just not be bothered and that he can afford to turn away our business. On our previous visit, his wife spoke to us on the importance of local commerce ; clearly Monsieur Girault does not share this view?More
Beautiful terrace in the centre of town, next to the cathedral. Very good menu with a a choice of delicious dishes and outstanding desert.
L' Angelus is situated in a lovely setting a short stroll from where our barge was moored in the canal. The service and food was average which was disappointing.
We enjoyed the lunch provided with an tasty salad and dessert of sherbet ice cream. The service was a bit slow and rather indifferent, but we enjoyed the location and the meal.
On the canal and this was recommended. From morsels at the beginning to end this was fantastic. Gazpacho was just sensational. Service was excellent and helpful and setting sun next to church was great.
We always have at least one meal here when we're in Clamecy. Traditional French dishes executed well (and freshly prepared as far as we can tell). Lovely sitting outside in the plaza next to the cathedral with a glass of wine and a leisurely meal.
Dinner was at L’Angelus and it was absolutely delicious. Three of us had the andouilette tart with mustard cream, charolais braised in red wine, cheese (camembert, brillat savarin, chevre) and dessert (chocolate mousse, crème brulee and ice cream). We also ordered a Montrachet wine in...honor of our boat and our other friend had a shrimp salad, a wonderful lamb, cheese and ice cream. At the table next to us, they were confused by the cheese order because they offered “fromage ou fromage blanc”. They thought they offered fromage “blanc ou bleu), and had not encountered fromage blanc before.More
