The main dish of my wife was full of sand, the spinach wasn't cleaned well. Mu main dish was Cabeljau with coconut sauce. The taste was terrible, I couldn't eat it. The starter was slimy and that for 18,- Euro. The owner didn't want to...refund is and kept saying that all was normal and it was our problem. Horrible arrogant behaviour. So many other restaurants in the neighborhood who are much better and affordable.More

Stayed here several nights. Hotel rooms were small, but adequate. Exceptionally clean and well maintained. Staff was helpful. Food in the hotel restaurant was very good, albeit expensive.

Old style formal service, the food is good and the menu deals represent good value, the al a carte is more expensive but you do get more. A good selection of wines and range of prices, not cheap but fair value. In summer its pleasent...to sit outside or inside is a little more formal. We had very good and freindly service and totally enjoyed our evening.More

Although not very busy, the service was excellent with friendly, happy staff. The wine list was extensive and good value. The food was excellent - we’ll presented and very well cooked. Worth a return visit.

When we came in without reservations for lunch, the bistro part (there is also a restaurant part) was fully packed. There was one table left for two, which we happily took. There were mostly locals having lunch. We ordered the ‘formule bistrot’, which was nice...but not brilliant. A terrine of rabbit, a piece of beef as main course (not tender enough) and a great dessert. The wine list was really great, with a lot of choice of really good wines. An affordable and good lunch with a very nice wine.More

Excellent fare coupled with excellent service. A stay to remember. We will return. The staff are friendly, jovial and attentive, you could not ask for more. We wanted to mix and match the menus and it was not a problem. So often this request is met...with a blank stare, not here. Laura is a credit to this establishment.More

This is the restaurant of this small town 3 star hotel. To sum it up: the quality of the food is much higher than what you usually can get in this kind of hotel. The daily 3 course menu proved a real gourmet style dinner...with some amazing surprises. The local house wine went nicely with it, for an acceptable price. Service on the other hand is not yet up to standards. Waitresses seem to be mostly students. Soup is served ... but for a spoon you have to ask. Beef was ordered, but nobody inquired about the desired cuisson (which IMO was perfect nevertheless). Overall: another good meal in the Burgundy region. Would revisit without hesitation.More

A great find! We ate here twice on the bistro menu. Excellent food, wine and service. We had three courses which included several choices of good wine. We will definitely visit again when we are in the area.

We had lunch here and ate from both the restaurant menu and the bistrot menu. The food from the bistrot menu was good, un-fussy, tasty lunch. The food from the restaurant menu was a little posher and also good. I had a tomato salad to...start which was simple but tasty. A baked piece of salmon with a broccoli cream and courgettes which was nice but could have done without the broccoli cream. And a beautiful apple dessert which was by far the highlight of the meal. All in all I would recommend it for lunch or dinner but wouldn't agree with some of the reviews in here heaping praise in it. It's nice, but won't blow you away.More

We had a special occasion to celebrate , and were assured by locals that the Hostellerie was " one of the two best restaurants in town " . We booked a table several days in advance , arrived prettty much on time , and found...the restaurant none too busy for a Friday night . None the less , it took thirty minutes for our order to be taken , and an hour and a quarter for the first course to arrive , then a further half hour for the main course , which could fairly be described as " tepid at best " - it was as though it had been cooked , allowed to get cold , and then given a brief reheat under the grill , not the way I like my steaks ! The others in our party had all ordered different dishes , and all found the food to be lukewarm , although we were all getting quite hungry by this time , so facing a further wait by returning it to the kitchen did not appeal . A very disappointing experience .More

This was fine dining! We chose the four course set menu which was great value. The courses all had creative flair in flavour combinations and presentation. Sometimes the dish was even unusually surprising. The wait staff were attentive and the restaurant had an atmosphere of...refinement. With four courses plus wine we paid 38 euros each. The hotel/ restaurant is only a short walk from the port if, like us, you are in a canal trip.More

I had the 28 Euro menu here for lunch with friends and I was not disappointed. The place just oozed class and the food prep was first class. It is a la carte and you get servings of hot hot mini roll type baguettes, so...it is refreshing. Also tap water and a selection of wines etc were had. My main was Faux-fillet de Charolais Roti , pommme fondante , epinards and jus corse, basically French beef made to your liking and served with potatoes etc. it was absolutely delicious. This was a 3 course meal with two little additions in between which was unexpected. Great price for true quality, taste, presentation and service. Worth a visit.More

We ate from their 28euro menu. Every course was delicious and beautifully presented. The emphasis is on flavour rather than portion size so if you want to get bloated this is not the place for you. However they do keep replacing the rolls every time...you eat one. We had guinea fowl with girolles as a main course. Good selection of wines. The service was pleasant and efficient. We will return.More

We were a group of 8, dining on Saturday night at 8pm so the restaurant was busy and the service was understandably a bit stretched. It's a hotel and has that feel. We dined inside but you have the option of a terrace. Overall the...food was good but nothing inspiring: for the no 1 in Clamecy we were hoping for better and something a bit more imaginative. One thing we all commented on was the portion sizes which were small: I'm not one for quantity over quality (just the reverse in fact!) but for example, the poulet supreme that I had was less than half a breast. The waiter/ waitress also seemed quite insistent on feeding you with bread rolls which got to be irritating. Service was average but I put that partly down to us choosing the busiest time of the week. One thing that irks - and this seems to be common with lots of French restaurants - is that you're seated at your table and then you have to wait an age before you're offered a drink. Price for 2 with drinks was 75 Euros: ok but expensive when we compare that with other places that we have eaten locally. Would we go back: yes but it wouldn't be top of out list.More

We dined here just on the off chance. We do not normally choose hotels for dining. What a surprise. Fine dining at its best first class service. Elegant dining room. Could not fault anything.. All that for 30 euros each. Unbelievable
