This pastry shop has been creating this amazing traditional sweets called Ovos Moles (Soft Eggs) since 1882 and they are very very good. We were presented with a very good service and samples that have sweeten our appetite to buy them. I definitely recommend this...one a must stop.More
Unfortunately I don't have any other place to compare to, but I have really liked the ovos moles and rabanadas here.
The best ovos moles, for me (Aveiro born and raised) the standard. Firm filling and thin crust. Don't put them in the fridge they become too hard.
If you want to try/give a souvenir from Aveiro this is the place to go. Trust me on this they're the best in town!
Nice and friendly employees and the best ovos moles in Aveiro. This place has the original receipt of conventual deserts. At Christmas time you must wait a bit because lots of people go there to get the amazing cookies.
Last time I was in Aveiro earlier this year they were closed (Sunday afternoon!!!) This time I made it down during their opening hours. Friendly service, decent English spoken as well.
Not a restaurant nor a pastry shop, this is a "ovos moles" factory. Near to the place you start your "moliceiro" trip, this is the place to buy the traditional Aveiro´s ovos moles and other regional delicacies such as "raivas" or "nozes".
The Ovos Moles have a thin crust. These are the best in Aveiro. I have been buying here for decades and they keep their top quality.
There is plenty of great traditional sweets in Portugal, all over the country, and in the north there is a big and widespread tradition of "doçaria conventual" (convent sweets). It is very hard to pin point the best for there are many outstanding manufacturers and...we can witness this in a regular meeting fair of "doçaria conventual" in Alcobaça. There is one manufacturer though, which can be rightfully set above all others. We call it "Fábrica dos Ovos Moles" (soft eggs factory) or just the "Garagem" (garage). This is because it's really the factory where they are made but also because the waiting room for the customers wait in the comfortable adapted garage of the building they have been servicing Aveiro families for many decades. Today it's no longer about Aveiro. They have become very recognized nation wide and are known abroad. Any sweet you chose is going to be amazing but the most traditional is the "Ovos Moles de Aveiro" (Aveiro soft eggs). This is a very sweet but incredibly balances and fresh egg past which is covered by the unforgettable crackling white bread that is served in the Catholic mass service. The body of Christ. I can say that this is indeed a religious experience and risking to be taken as a heretic I have to say this is the best way to have access to the 'body of Christ'. It is undoubtedly a divine experience!More
Hidden little sweets shop (have to ring the doorbell for entrance) with 130 years of history, that produces the most traditional and best doce de ovos in Portugal. Highly recommend the areias as well.
It is difficult to find, anywhere in the world, such a refined sweet. And the 'ovos moles' from this house are beyond comparison to all others served and sold in the city! These are just egg yolks and sugar, while all others contain flour and...are heavy to eat! Worth a try! Worth traveling long distance just to buy and eat them!More
