This was a great experience. I have rated this little restaurant with a 5 star rating but that still does not do it justice. Our dishes flowed with flavours that just kept you wanting more. The chef Simone explained his dishes much like an artist...does his canvas. Put this together with the intimacy of restaurant you are guaranteed a lovely quiet moment in your day. Go on ! Take a shot at something different, your palate will love you forever.More
Keep in mind, for two days I so looked forward to this meal…. The family with the baby, and the mistakenly assumed American tourists, were seated in front of the bathroom. Not by it, but eighteen inches in front of farts and flushing toilets. Next,...we were offered menus in English and stupidly, accepted. The waitstaff apologized that they were not updated (hand written and slid in a high school term paper plastic sleeve), and if that were not distasteful enough, they were dingy dirty. I should have left. Right then, I should have left. Half of what we tried to order from the menu was no longer being offered. [I really should have left.] Eventually, I figured out that the beef filet was available and that’s what I settled on; asking for medium rare and the balsamic drizzle on the side. My husband ordered sea bass, which he calls sea trout, and the Italian fish markets sell as Branzino. Moving on…. My beef filet was equivalent to a second rate, unseasoned, round steak cut. Medium rare was served medium. And all was drenched in balsamic vinegar. My husband’s fish was fine. Just fine. Served flabby white skin topside, and a mediocre assortment of vegetables underneath. The one redeeming quality of our experience was the baby at the table beside us. In fairness, the staff offered to exchange or remake my steak. But frankly, I just couldn’t see myself digging the hole even deeper. We paid, exited, and looked right… Pizza! A delicious smelling pizza restaurant steps away. We ran to the aroma….More
Hidden away but with discovering this jewel of a restaurant. The food was of the highest quality service friendly and prompt, a fabulous lunch, we will be back!
We stumbled on this beautiful, authentic restaurant. Excellent food and very friendly staff! The food was fresh and beautifully presented. Our waitresses were attentive to all our needs. Really great place! Highly recommend! Thank you!

We came here because of good reviews. All a bit disappointed with what we got for the price we paid. Quality is good, but nothing special. Portions very small. Altogether expensive and not really worth the money. Friendly staff and nice setting on terrace of...hotel garden lido.More
Very small place but really great with a friendly and kind service. Food is well prepared, dishes are presented very well, excellent taste. One of the top restaurant in Loano.
This place produces delicate dishes. The tuna tartar was very tasty and well balanced. The stand out dish must have been the ricotta, lemon and lobster ravioli. They were very delicate. The steak was nicely cooked. The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly.
Unexpected place in the very characteristic streets of Loano. Super fresh fish, perfect service and nice people. Worth a visit!
When the chef comes to talk about his food as he has the best English you know you’re onto something good. High expectations created and were delivered. Great pasta fabulous sea food/fish and service. Lovely little back street, quite romantic even as a family of...5 which is going something. Very reasonable value when you consider the ingredients and quality of cooking. Simply go and enjoy.More
I was staying in the area for a week while working locally. I wish I had found this place on the first night! I only had a chance to visit on my last night and that is a shame. The staff were friendly, helpful and...happy to seat just me, it was out of season and a mid week night but I am confident they would have tried even if busy. The food was divine, the Salmon smoked by them ‘in house’ and the main of ricotta stuffed ravioli with cray fish and a nice sauce was delicious. I don’t usually bother with a dessert but after a helping of the recommended red wine, I was happy to finish with a locally made cheese cake in a jar with nuts and chocolate added to the top. The whole lot (including wine) was a reasonable 50 euros, it was worth more so I left £60. One of the owners was happy to practice his English and walk me through his recommendations. Go now, you won’t be disappointed.More
Alessandro is a passionate chef able to deliver traditional and modern dishes made to perfection. Octopus and calamari are cooked as tender and tasty as they can get. The home made smoked salmon (cold and hot smoked) is the best I have ever had. I...suggest you get out of your way to visit Gein. The only downside, the restaurant can host thirty people only, so booking is essential. Enjoy... AndreaMore
After seeing a few good reviews on TA we wanted to try this but when we turned up it was fully booked. This is of course a good sign but just as we were walking away the chef called us back and advised us if...we could do dinner within an hour he could seat us... again a good sign and no problem for us so we agreed. We had an excellent dinner in a cosy wee traditional Italian restaurant which was tucked away in the back streets of the old town in Loano. Serving tasteful seafood pastas, nice beer and a vast choice of quality wine you can’t go wrong here. (Desserts looked great also but we did not try). Better than many other Italian restaurants in the area we would recommend giving it a try. Service was attentive, friendly and quick. Will be back.More
This was our second visit to Gein and it won’t be our last! This is a family run restaurant and they are delightful. The food was excellently prepared and presented with passion. Catering for someone who cannot eat any member of the onion family (always...a test of a good restaurant) was no problem at all! The Chef personally recommended dishes to us and they were excellent. Very good local produce that tasted great!More
