Tasty food, real big portions so the price is good. The service was a bit slow (pretty empty) and the ambience could be improved.

Cooked beautifully and combined with piglet sauce; seafood is very tasty; fresh cherries are awesome. Other portuguese dishes are also superb.
Although communication made this restaurant a bit difficult, the quality and authenticity of the food made the trip well worthwhile. The atmosphere is plain, simple, and the other diners were all local. Anna, and one other person, were able to explain what we should have,...and recommended wine to accompany. We had delicious prawns and lamb, both of which were more than we should have eaten. Plenty of spinach and potatoes, as well as some carrots on the side! We splurged with a dessert they recommended, which was delicious. A pastry with chocolate and ice cream (?gelato) They were very happy to have us, as it is a bit off the path. Anna thanked us with a gift of two pasteis de nata, the traditional Portugese custard tart, which we ate the next day. This is a local treasure and well worth the trip! An unusually good deal for dinner also!More
I've been coming to this restaurant for many years, and I can say that has always been delicious. I recommend the lamb.
It's always a good idea return to this great restaurant, where you can find a good Portuguese cuisine and lot of healthy food. Meet or fresh fish, you will find a good selection and a great taste. In the Coimbra region is one of the...best.More
Excelent Cabrito. Moderate to low prices. Very nice service. Good ambiance. The ONLY deterrent is tv Don't miss This!
I've been in Manuel Júlio many times for dinner with family and I've always felt welcomed and we always enjoyed our meals. Even if it's not really close to the sea, the seafood is delicious. They have a ''seafood boat'' that will bring to the...table a big amount of food: shrimps, crab, lobster, crawfish, and they will bring more stuff. The staff is nice and helpful. The homemade mango mousse is one of my favorite choices for dessert here.More
Tradicional portuguese restaurant with very good food. Fish and meat, all tasty. I know MJ for a long time and is always very good
What delicious roasted goat! We started off with creamy vegetable soup and then this very tasty roasted goat. Highly recommended! Finished off with a pastel de nata which was very poor, even though it was highly recommended.
This restaurant serves the best roast goatling in the area! It is specially good when it comes with a rise, made with the goatling giblets!
At lunch time they have buffet, but who wants to eat buffet food if you can have a delicious roasted lamp or a fantastic codfish with corn bread.
The restaurant has the best all you can eat buffet in the area, that includes Coimbra. The quality, variety, and service is the best with an attractive price. But, if you would rather eat a regular meal this place also has an excellent dinning experience...in the main room. The menu is local and traditional, you eat well with a pleasant bill at the end. Available parking in front, try to be there early it fills quickly on all days for lunch.More
I really like the roasted lamb in this place, so I went there with international corporate at the end of a business working day. Place is modest, but welcome and the lamb is good. Bad luck, a medium size slug "popped up" in the vegetables....Not a nice thing to happen, it raises the question if they were properly washed, I will never know and honestly I know this could happen, but it shouldn't. The reaction from the restaurant was to immediatly exchange, by another vegetable category this time a more secure option "esparregado". This time if there were any slug went to pieces and never got noticed. I resume I was very sad, bad impression for guests and from the restaurant I would expect another type of reaction regarding this issue.More
