Laluna was just what the doctor ordered. I usually work over 60 hours a week. All I wanted was peace and quiet to enjoy our anniversary and Laluna served it up wonderfully. We were there for 8 nights, 9 days.
The views are breathtaking and hearing the ocean at every turn was so lovely.
The staff was excellent!!! For anyone who says they are not attentive, I believe it is a misunderstanding. Every single person on the staff we encountered - again, over 9 days - was incredibly nice and accommodating. They don’t want to disturb you unless you need something.
I completely echo the sentiment that sometimes it felt like we were the only people there. It was magical, like having your own resort. (I feel like I finally know how Beyoncé feels when she vacations.)
The rooms are very comfortable. We were able to spread out our clothes and electronics easily.
The spa was amazing - I had the hot stone massage. I have had a lot of them and this is the first time I have ever received stones between each toe 😮😍. Make sure you book one (or two!)
I loved the lounge music they played in the common space. It went perfectly with keeping you in a soothed and relaxed state. My husband and I love soca, reggae and calypso and the live music on Sunday was great as we had a chance to have that mixed in with the pan played live.
Bring bug spray - it’s the Caribbean people! We all know better. I went to my local Target the night before departing on our trip and couldn’t find it easily so just figured I would buy it there. Of course it was more expensive but you’re on an island where everything is imported.
My husband loved the bathroom, it was the only thing I wasn’t crazy about. After the rain, there were more mosquitoes - nothing crazy, just a few - so we left a mosquito coil, provided by the hotel, to burn in the bathroom. Also, because I am who I am, I put a beach towel in the louver where the toilet is. It made me happy with the thought that I closed an area where a mosquito could enter. Viewing the ocean at shower time though? Exquisite.
We stayed in Cottage 10 so it was at the very edge and offered a lot of privacy and an expansive view. The one night we did have a neighbor, they were a bit noisy if you know what I mean, so we had to turn the tv up quite loud but that was only one night.
If you have mobility challenges - make sure you get the cottage on the beach. Otherwise there are 36 steps to the first landing of cottages. It was our workout and probably the reason I only gained 2 pounds over the course of our trip. Win for me after all that I ate and drank. Speaking of drinks the pina colada and rumtini were delicious. Sidenote: I have barely eaten carbs the past 2 months and had no alcohol so my tastebuds were in heaven and I am not sure what oil they use for their french fries but they are really, really tasty. I digress.....
The food is all Italian so if you want local fare you can head to several locations nearby. We enjoyed BB’s immensely. Town is literally like a 2 minute drive away. I will tell you that we were SO relaxed that we didn’t leave the resort until day 7. Seriously. We were in complete zen mode.
Book a tour through the front desk with Lennox - he is awesome and will do whatever floats your boat. For us, we didn’t want to do tours of rum or chocolate factories - we wanted to see the island, feel the vibrancy and understand the history and he delivered.
Laluna is incredibly special. If you are looking for a place to unwind, savor life and be surrounded by beautiful scenery, look no further. We were so happy at our choice to celebrate our wedding anniversary at this amazing place.
