Went here with my nephew who likes military history, I must admit I didn't know this story so was pleased we went, always good to have a place that preserves local history
Not a lot to say about this area, this is a monument to Polish in the 2nd WW. The walks around the area are nice with a good variety of wildlife in the local area. Very close to here is the 2nd WW cemetary and also the German Cemetary which is well worth the visit.
I've been visiting this area for years with family, some great walks and beautiful views of the chase. The memorial is a modest tribute to the military history of the site. It's perfectly sited between the ancient old woodland and the newer pines allowing for many different walks from the memorial. Roads to the carpark currently have some serious pot holes so be cautious on the approach, especially if it's been raining.
Really nice to visit, just don't use the link for location from trip advisor you will be miles away. Lovely walk on a summers day.
We've been hiking around Cannock Chase Forest for a few months now and this is the first time Paul and I had been to Freda's grave site. We are pleasantly surprised to see the surrounding trees with blossoming flowers leading to the grave of 1st World War NZ Great Dane Mascot. It was adorned with poppies and heartfelt messages. Parking is easy and if you enjoy varied hiking elevations and an occasional deer sightings - this is the place to go.
Teary... quite a moving place... lovely floral tributes in this well kept location. More to see and do around.
