West Kennet Long Barrow is one of the best Iron Age burial grounds in the UK. The whole area is riddled with historic sites, and this is one of the best. The walk is a fair distance and would require good footwear in winter

Very pastoral walk from our inn , it really enhanced the visit to the burial chamber. The natural beauty of the area was great too.

A short walk from layby on Old A4, with great views all around, including Silbury Hill. Pathway is quite flat with slight incline to the barrow. Interesting that you can enter and go into part of the chamber.

My archeology buff other half says this is his favourite site in the UK and I can see why. It is so unspoilt and the surrounding views of the countryside and Silbury Hill are outstanding.
It was very quiet when we went which also adds to the atmosphere & sense of magic.
Well worth a visit.

We did this at school ....well....55 years ago, so....it was nice to climb it and walk upon it.
Why....?
I ask my wife that all the time.!!
