Tour only available in French, spend more time talking than showing the parliament. Very limited chess to various rooms, difficult to take pictures because the tour guide always in your way.
We visited with a group of French and English people. The tour was in both French and English and the guide explained very well. The rooms and the décor were amazing and very colourful.
Well worth a visit.
Great for kids and adults, even in winter. Very well maintained park with an excellent play park for kids with wooden climbing frame and other apparatus. Very nice to walk around in all seasons.
This is a government (judicial) building and so you cannot tour its interiors unless you are on a guided tour (schedule and pay for that at the Rennes Tourism Office) and pass through an airport-style security scan. It's worth those hassles, trust me - pictures absolutely do not do it justice. Unless you have a very strong grasp of the French language, your tour guide's explanations will probably fly over your head: if so it doesn't matter, you can always read-up on the history of the building later, in the language of your choice on the internet. All you really want is to get inside the building to witness its glories for yourself. On our tour we saw the front exterior face, the inner courtyard, main hall, meeting room, inner hallways, "great room", counselor's chambers, and a hearing room. The stunningly ornate décor easily rivals The Palace at Versailles.
Having read the information about the building, at least having it interpreted for me, I expected big things of this place, thinking it may have been a museum of sorts. However, it was effectively closed, people inside could not offer any information. A grande old building with no information.
We walked by this on the way to our car park and back walked through the park. Did not go in but got a few great pictures. We don't have anything close to this at home so looking at it slacked jawed, amazing building. Very beautiful tiny tropical looking garden.
