These garden are situated in the village of Bunclody, Itself rather fascinating. We did not tour the house just had tea and scones the toured the gardens. Very colourful in June but the attraction needs a lot more visitors to pay for the upkeep, well done gardener for your efforts. The gardens need a greater attractions to have a fuller impact, maybe some wood sculptures, A wonderful job done restoring the gardens.
A warning though the drive into the house has "sleeping policemen" that aren't painted and are also too high, even though I drove slowly over them I was concerned they'd damaged my car. A little annoying.
If your in the Enniscorthy area well worth a visit. Stop in the village and have a tour.
First attempt to visit & it was closed but second time lucky. Unassuming entrance, cosy shop & cafe but we took to the gardens straightaway & weren't disappointed. An unexpected layout lay ahead in the form of a sunken garden section. Interesting planting too. So small but perfectly formed.
The house ang gardens were open for visitors As it was heritage week the house tour was free The gardens were pleasent but not very large and plants and shrubs were only ok There was a exhabition in the gallery this was very nice this changes frequently
Thy serve light lunches and lovely homemade cakes in the tea room and if the weater is fine one can sit outside in the courtyard The craft shop is very small with very little stock
When you stop outside the entrance to this fine house you could be forgiven for getting into your car and driving away ! you enter into a sparse hallway that hides the hidden charm and beauty of this building and its gardens too well ! It costs €4 euro for the house tour and the same for the gardens... I picked the gardens and my family went on the house tour... we were both delighted with our trip !!!
We visited this place a couple of weeks ago and unfortunately the house is only open at the weekends, so we didn't get to go inside. However, we had a lovely lunch at the cafe of smoked salmon salad and soda bread. There were some nice craft items for sale and we had a good walk through the gardens, which include a sunken garden and a rose garden. There are lovely views of the sunken garden from a path above and it can be entered through a short tunnel. It is beautifully set out and maintained. A lovely way to spend a morning or afternoon.
A beautiful place we visited for an exhibition recently with a gorgeous little cafe, highly recommended for a family day out.
